milehighfan 1,240
We finished last in the SEC West in football, now it looks like we're headed in that direction in basketball. Looks like our winning streak stops at one.

I missed the fact that he was on the SEC network

jared52 4,354
Defender didn't give Harris the space on that charge. Another wrong call. defender didn't have to give any space on that situation. it was an easy call. Missed this one during the game. Did they eliminate the part of the charge rule where the defender had to be a step away from the offensive player? It used to be that if you didn't set yourself a step away from them, it was a block. Hard to know what the rule interpretation is. I watched part or most of 4 other games yesterday and saw some of the worst charge/block calls imaginable....a couple of which had or almost had a major effect on the outcome of games involving Duke, TAMU and MSU. If anything, the consistency of calls from one crew to another has gotten worse.

Did they eliminate the part of the charge rule where the defender had to be a step away from the offensive player? It used to be that if you didn't set yourself a step away from them, it was a block. He was a step away from him. Harris initiated all the contact there. But he didn't have to be a step away from him as the primary defender. Also, the defender NEVER has to be set to draw a charge. That has never been in the rule book. Art. 4. To establish an initial legal guarding position on the player with the ball: a. The guard shall have both feet touching the playing court. When the guard jumps into position initially, both feet must return to the playing court after the jump, for the guard to establish a legal guarding position. b. The guard’s torso shall face the opponent. c. No time and distance shall be required. d. When the opponent with the ball is airborne, the guard shall have established legal guarding position before the opponent left the playing court. (Exception: Rule 4-17.7)

(Exception: Rule 4-17.7) I was just perusing the rule book for that. Thanks. Was a foul on Harris since it was the primary defender. My mistake. I stand by the rest of my complains.
