quietfan 233
Can't decide if Trump is dumb enough to believe it's as simple as this, or smart enough to know his base will believe it's as simple as this and keep supporting him: http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/trump-s-first-foreign-trip/trump-s-intelligence-disclosure-russia-no-apology-tillerson-says-n762841 Quote Trump: I Never Said ‘Israel’ in Meeting With Russians JERUSALEM — President Donald Trump said Monday he never mentioned the word "Israel" as the source of intelligence about ISIS during a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted that "intelligence cooperation is terrific" with the United States. "Folks, folks, just so you understand, just so you understand, I never mentioned the word or the name Israel during that conversation" with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the White House, Trump said. ... It's not about whether you literally said the name "Israel"! It's about: 1. Did the content of the revealed intelligence allow the Russians to discern the identity of the source or sources, perhaps when combined with other information the Russians already possessed? Could knowledge of that source result in the loss of that source, or endanger an agent on the ground? 2. How badly does the revelation of information provided by an ally under terms of secrecy affect the U.S.'s relationship with all its allies or information sources? What sort of damage does such carelessness with a friend's confidential information do to the image of the U.S. or the trust other friendly nations place in us? 3. Did Trump truly understand the magnitude of the information he was sharing, or did he simply react without consideration of the consequences? Was he properly briefed on the sensitivity of the information? And was his motive really Russian cooperation against ISIS, or was it merely an egotistical attempt to impress the Russian with his 'knowledge'? Obviously, "alternative facts" includes irrelevant facts as well as outright falsehoods. This is an even clumsier attempt to redefine the question than McMaster's statement.
