There was talk during the recruiting season that he might walk on at AU rather than accept a scholarship somewhere else. He is a TE 6-4/220/4.70 Since AU was planning to sign Tommy Trott and Gabe Mckenzie there was no room to sign Stephen Gowland as a TE. He attended Parkview HS, Lilburn, GA. Here is a short write up on him. "A tall tight end that is a punishing blocker. Has good hands and a frame to get considerably bigger. Even better off the field where he has scored a 1,300 on his SAT already. A standout at the TheInsiders/MSL Combine, he did 20 reps of 185, had a vertical jump of 30 inches, and had an outstanding standing long jump of 8'10" Was timed at 4.59 in the forty at the Fellowship Sports Camp in July.
