Predictions Thread: By 2-1-21...

By 2-1-21 Trump will either have a TV Show, or be in the process of developing one. Ultimately, he will be a star on a network like OAN, Blaze, etc. Hell, he may take over a network or build one. It will be aimed directly at taking over Limbaugh's place and dragging the rest of the Conservative Dinosaurs even further to the Right than even Limbaugh Dreamed. Trump will realize at some point it is over and that he can bash his enemies 24-7 using the media to do so. He LOVES the ATTENTION and the FIGHT.

Instead of leading from the WH, he will realize that he can unleash a whole political movement using the media. He will find his final MOJO in this idea.

He will bring everything to bare in the Ga. Senate run offs and will be successful. From what I understand there were thousands of votes for Biden in Ga without any down ballot selections. After that, who knows?  He will not go quietly into the night.

Doubtful. Democrats will pour millions into the run offs and no one does grassroots organizing better than the Dems. Republicans won't win those seats easy. And Trump will likely make his own TV show and no one but his cult will watch it. Well, may be I'll watch it a little so I can be entertained.

Did you not pay attention to the Senate races as a whole?  No, as much as I would like to see a change, the Democrats will totally blow this...again

I don't think normal rules apply now. Dems are riding the momentum and can focus everything on Georgia. Obama's probably already got a short term lease on an apartment in Midtown. Voters in the state are motivated and not subdued by the usual "we're a red state and that's just how it is" defeatism. They're the center of the political universe now and they know it. I'm not saying they'll win, but I don't see the party "blowing" this. (Atlanta teams are a different story...)

I’m betting that the Dems are satisfied with the WH and the Reps are motivated by the vision of a unchained a Democratic Socialist Party, whether true or not.

Dems are going to campaign hard for those two seats.

Trump could be a factor. Be funny if he burns the R party to the ground on his way out.

The Republican Party is in a paradigm shift, as is the Democratic Party IMO.  I’m hoping that the fact the Republicans gained in the house and kept most of the seats in the Senate (pending the runoff), they realize the old party line isn’t working.  Trump, with all his faults, has woken up some Republicans to represent the middle Americans as the Democratic Party seems to be the party of the ultra rich (or those that want to be) and the ultra poor.

The way Georgia turned out will inspire the Republican vote for the runoffs.  Biden needs to have to deal with a Republican Senate to see if he is really more of a centrist and not influenced by the far left.

'We will get f-ing torn apart': Nancy Pelosi, other Dems take fire on heated caucus call

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and freshmen members of the Democratic Party's left wing took fire from Rep. Abigail Spanberger during a Thursday conference call among House Democrats, with Spanberger blaming poor messaging on the party losing seats in the House of Representatives.

Spanberger, a former CIA officer who narrowly flipped a traditionally red Virginia district in 2018, once again eked out a victory o n Tuesday but said it shouldn't have been that close, and her caucus lost races they shouldn't have

"The number one concern that people brought to me in my race that I barely rewon was defunding the police," she said in audio obtained by the Washington Post. "And I've heard from colleagues who say, 'Oh it's the language of the streets, we should respect that.' We're in Congress. We are professionals. We are supposed to talk about things in the way where we mean what we are talking about. If we don't mean we should defund the police, we shouldn't say that."

"Defunding the police" has proved to be an extremely unpopular policy position, with polling showing that anywhere from just 24% to 28% of Americans support the slogan/movement.

Spanberger went on to blast socialism, stating, "we need to not ever use the the word socialist or socialism ever again" — a direct shot at Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib who are both members of the Democratic socialists of America

"If we are classifying Tuesday as a success from a congressional standpoint, we will get f—ing torn apart in 2022," she said.

Pelosi reportedly spoke on the call right after and said she "disagrees" with Spanberger's description of the race, stating that the Democrats held the House and won the presidency.

Spanberger's comments were later criticized by progressives, with Rep. Ocasio-Cortez tweeting, "So the whole 'progressivism is bad' argument just doesn’t have any compelling evidence that I’ve seen. When it comes to 'Defund' & 'Socialism' attacks, people need to realize these are racial resentment attacks. You’re not gonna make that go away. You can make it less effective."

Many mocked Ocasio-Cortez's characterization of "defund the police" and "socialism" as "racial resentment attacks," noting that exit polling has shown Hispanics — especially Cubans in Florida — moved in the GOP's direction after the party's emphasis on socialism, and African Americans moved towards the GOP as well. Polling has shown a majority African Americans do not support defunding the police.

I keep hoping AOC will learn to play the game, but it seems she wants to win Twitter and little else.

She could be very good. She's either incapable of or choosing not to be. Frustrating.

Agreed. Whip smart, energetic, crazy charismatic... and it seems that she would be the first to tell you that. Could be a generational thing but she is incessantly retweeting flattering things people say about her. That's extremely off-putting to me and suggests a vanity that could, as with trump, interfere with her focus on her job. And she's certainly not a unifying presence. There's a lot of "just to own the cons" to her game. That's one of the main themes of the last 4 years that should be repudiated. (At her level.)

It's definitely some political myopia.  She seems like she can't even conceive of reasons that people might oppose "defund the police" or "socialism" that aren't out of racial animus.  She seems smarter than that.

She still seems like the liberal version of Trump to me. Stay in the public eye even if what you are saying is crazy. Use inflammatory language to fire up your base.

I mentioned this earlier after she burst on the scene.  She’s a typical NYer and just like Trump without the experience of running a business, but she worked for one, as almost everyone else has.

You mean ruining a business.  ;D
