Popular Post TitanTiger 20,499
For a while now we've had a small group of posters that regularly get into it with each other on various threads. It usually starts with some disagreement over the team - coaching decisions, what players should be playing, whose fault a loss or lack of success is, and so on. But then it quickly morphs into a bunch of personal bickering and name calling. A lot of it comes from a long history of animosity between the posters in question, with people dredging up old conversations or arguments to prove some unimportant point. But the end result is, these few people end up taking over a thread completely. What started as a regular discussion on QB play or offensive philosophy turns into a 20+ page megathread where 75% of the posts are these same folks rehashing their same disagreements for the umpteenth time. We're tired of this happening. I've been dishing out more and longer suspensions for people. I've sent PMs to people telling them to put each other on ignore. It gets better for a few days and then it resurfaces - usually because makes some passive-aggressive comment they know will set another person off, trying to say "I told you so" over a play that happened in the latest game. It's to the point where it's driving people away who just want to discuss Auburn sports with fellow Auburn fans and not have every other thread ratchet up to a "10." So fair warning, some permanent bans are eminent. I don't know how to get people to see the difference in a normal debate and disagreement and this thread takeover meltdown crap that's been going on so the solution is going to end up being that we just remove the folks perpetuating it until no more of that type of poster is left. I'm not saying you can't argue. I'm not saying you can't be passionate. I'm not even saying we're going to drop the hammer every time someone gets called a name. We're all grown adults here. But we need to start acting like it and if the moderators or admins tell you to cool it, it better start happening immediately or folks are going to be looking for a new address to talk about Auburn. So just know, we're done tolerating this and trying to get people to do the grown up thing on their own. Don't test us by getting as close to the line as you can without crossing it then going all "What, who me?" when we kick you off the forums. The people doing this know who they are but this goes for others as well. Quit ruining the experience here for everyone else. 45 33 3
