TexasTiger 13,285
Mexican democracy has always been fragile. Petty corruption was there before the drug war, but it’s deeply systemic now and dangerous. We can fault Mexico, but the two major drivers have been meeting the USA’s drug demands and easy access to weapons of war. The criminal syndicates have moved way beyond that now impacting other legitimate businesses. The consequences will be severe. Any solutions will be imperfect and challenging.
AU9377 5,290
That is true. It has also been the case for decades going back. Mexico does have a middle class, which many in the U.S. don't realize. That middle class has been shrinking in favor of the haves and have nots.
