AUBURN - A defensive back from Hawkinsville, Ga., became Auburn's second football commitment for the 2007 signing class Tuesday.

Dequan Bembry accepted Auburn's scholarship offer a day after it was offered. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder had 50 tackles and three interceptions last season.

Bembry is expected to play safety and wide receiver at Hawkinsville this year, but is projected as a cornerback at Auburn.

Expected to be a big-time DB recruit this year, he has interest from several schools but wanted to play for AU so he went ahead and committed. Mainly a defender, (he runs a 4.5) because, as he states, "I like to hit." He also sees Auburn as an opportunity to get some early pt in the secondary.
