A pictorial representation of the St Louis Cardinals

sinking_ship.jpg

The picture is nonexistant. Is that the joke? <_<

Strange, I uploaded a pic of a sinking ship (I can see it fine). Sorry...

Okay, I just realized what the "true" American Idol test should be. Make each contestant sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame at Wrigley.

Needless to say, we will not be seeing Sam Hornish Jr. on AI next season... :puke:

Well, that sound you heard was the entire city of St. Louis exhaling...

This will be the 5th year in a row with "no repeat offender" in the WS

'02 was Giants-Angels

'03 was Yankees-Marlins

'04 was Cardinals-Red Sox

'05 was Astros-White Sox

'06 = ???

Oh, you're welcome Jarhead.

Go win the NL Pennant now.

Can we have Smoltz?

You're playing the Padres. Do you really need him?

Oh, and then you get the Mets, who's #1 starter is Orlando Hernandez. Gimme a break. And the AL doesn't have the Red Sox or White Sox alive?

This is a really weak postseason.

Well, the networks are rooting for a Yankees vs. "anyone but San Diego" WS.

They'll probably get just that.

As long as it's not a Subway Series like 2000, I don't really care.

I'd love to see the Twins win the ALCS. Or the A's. Or the Tigers for that matter.

Man, TV ratings are going to be awful.

You can almost make a case that you could have better ratings with:

AL:

AL East - Red Sox

AL Central - White Sox

AL East - Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels

WC - Indians

NL:

NL East - Braves

NL Central - Astros

NL West - Giants

WC - Phillies

All eight of those teams miss the playoffs. Oh well, enjoy kids, but I may skip this go-around.

Ok, what's the call on the NLCS? Mets in 5 or 6?

A tidbit: Since the Division Series was added, the St. Louis Cardinals are 20-5 in those NLDS games, winning 5 of those 6 series; they’re 11-23 in the other post-season games, losing 5 of those 6 series. Odd symmetry.

Cards in 5. You guys have a distinct pitching advantage IMO, plus you have one of the better hitting lineups in the league overall.

This postseason has already been a success...the Yankees are out.

Oakland-Detroit won't be a ratings bonanza, but I'll sneak a peek in at two teams that virtually no one expected to get to this point.

The Mets just have the look of a team that isn't going to let anything slow them down much.

Agreed, I'm shocked they swept LA. But it's the postseason, and anything can happen.

St Louis (the city) is great this time of year, everyone gets into the postseason, people wearing jerseys and hats to work. Cars with the Redbird flags on it. The city basically shuts down when the Cards are on. I love it.

I've got to pull for the Tigers. Their closer, Todd Jones, is a Pell City boy.

Well, the ALCS is turning into a runaway...Detroit is a win away from the World Series and they lost 119 games just three years ago.

Cards are making the NLCS at least halfway interesting now...good comeback for them tonight.

Well, it's a best of three. I think the winner of tonights game will win the NLCS.

Weaver vs Glavine. Both on three days rest.

...make it 4 days rest, I would presume.

Weather is just as crappy in St. Louis as it is here in Houston, apparently.

Well, one more... And then they would run into the buzzsaw that is the Tigers...

Okay Jarhead, in an attempt to fix the bad karma I have given your Cards with my last two predictions...

New York will win Game 7 and send the Cards packing for St. Louie tonight. :nanner:

I hope your bad karma stays with the Cards tonight. Just to be safe I have pulled out all of my old Mets gear trying to get some of that 1986 mojo.
