11 Alabama

10 Harvard

10 Southern California

Where are they now? Its amazing how many of these once proud programs are now wallowing in the football graveyard.

Well, the ivy league schools may as well not even have football anymore. Notre Dame currently contracts their way into a BCS bowl which they lose every year. Southern Cal is the number 1 son of the media. And uat = Ole Miss.

The Ivies have done it completely right. They do without the corperate corruption of the bowl system in order to focus on what college football is meant to be about.

I went to the Princeton vs. Harvard game last year and can tell you those guys play just as hard, train just as hard, and do it w/half the glory, exposure and potential $ as Div. 1 ballplayers. They're physically smaller, but only on the O & D line. The speed was even closer than I thought it would be. It was actually bizarre looking @ a field of football players and knowing EVERY one of those guys was not only a valedictorian, but is extraordinary non-academically too (for every Bush or Kennedy that gets in because of diddy, theres 50 that get in the old fashioned way).

Having said that, Michigan and Notre Dame are proof you can have great academics AND great football. The ivy league stopped giving scholarships years ago and reversing that one factor would probably make most of them on the level of the Marshalls, Air force's and Rice's of the college football world.
