aucanucktiger 1,798 Posted November 12, 2006 Share Posted November 12, 2006 IMHO, this is the downside of a (mostly upside) LB philosophy Tubs has had since his Miami days. If you recruit not small, but smaller LBs w/ more speed, they CANNOT play straight up defense play after play (like they did a lot yesterday...especially our MLBs). They'll just get blocked aside. The defensive plan MUST have them alternating between playing stright up, stunting, rushing, etc. to keep them from being predictable. New coaches are like new players, just busier, and I think Will will learn not to try to make a square peg (our speedy, smaller LBs) fit into a round hole (standard LB play-calling). He's bright and agressive and he was BORN for Tubs style of LB play, he just needs to learn the nuances of using Tubs-type LBs. Er, wait until next year!
