Nutt, 46, is the younger brother of head coach Houston Nutt. He had brain surgery in 1998 and has been hospitalized on occasion since then but was always able to remain on the job. Danny Nutt is currently receiving treatment for what the university called "a serious condition that includes bleeding from his brain stem."
