System Administrator Job Description

TETRA Technologies, Inc. is seeking an individual for the Server Engineer Group of its IT Department who can work within a team setting, understands the need to manage change within the infrastructure and work in a dynamic technology environment.

Ø Seek out new solutions and technologies related to the corporate infrastructure.

Ø Assist the Web Master in maintaining stable web sites.

Ø Responsible for the maintenance of security patches for all Windows based system in the corporation.

Ø Document new and revised procedures for maintaining infrastructure stability

Ø Interact with business personnel to resolve problems and recommend cost effective solutions.

Ø Perform a wide variety of complex technical duties involved in installation, repair, and maintenance of networking hardware and software.

Ø Perform a wide variety of complex technical duties involved in installation, repair, and maintenance of Virtual Private Network technologies for mobile/remote users.

Ø Manage the administration of the following server functions:

· Microsoft Exchange Server

· Microsoft SQL Server

· Microsoft Operations Manager

· Microsoft Systems Management Server

· Microsoft Internet Information Server

· SAN (EMC and XIOTech)

· MS Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WINS, File & Print Services

· VMWare Virtual Servers support MS Windows Server 2003

· Citrix

Requirements:

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Strong organizational skills

· Good trouble shooting skills

· Bachelor’s Degree (or obtaining degree)

Preferred Skill Sets:

· Windows 2003 Server A/D administration

· Exchange 2003

· Dell and/or IBM Server hardware experience

· LAN installation and maintenance, including V-LANs and VPNs

· SQL 2000 Administration

· SMS 2.0

· SMS 2003 implementation

· MOM (Microsoft Operations Management)

· SAN (EMC and Xiotech Magnitude) Administration

· Exchange 2003 implementation

· Maintaining the logical perimeter security of the company networks.
