Womens BB commit

LaGrange, Ga.--The Auburn women’s basketball team has picked up a verbal commitment from six-foot-seven center Pascale “P.J.” West from Troup County High School.

A standout at a summer AU basketball camp, West is the daughter of former NBA player Wally West. She says she isn’t certain of her junior year statistics, but notes she averaged “around 10 points and 10 rebounds per game and a bunch of blocked shots.”

West is also known for her defensive skills. She joins her AAU teammate on the Georgia Blazers, 5-10 guard Nicolle Thomas of Moultrie, Ga., as a verbal commitment to Auburn for the 2009 class. Auburn also has a verbal commitment from 6-3 forward Blanche Alverson from Buford, Ga., High.

A girl I know recently committed to play for Auburn, too. Very solid player that can play down low as well as shoot outside. Blanche Alverson is her name.
