Andy Bitter said on twitter he is transferring and au is likely destination. Finally some good news for bball team.

Does anyone know if Ward got a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA? If so, he can play this upcoming season. If not, he'll have to sit out a year before being eligible.

Note: A Medical Hardship Waiver is granted when a player has a family member that develops a serious illness and the player needs to move back close to home. The NCAA doesn't pass these out like candy.

Varez Ward, a sophomore guard on the Longhorn basketball team, is transferring, a source familiar with his situation said.

The source said that Ward has not selected a new school, but there have been rumors about Auburn. Ward is from Montgomery, Ala. He lives a 35 minute drive from the Auburn campus. His mother, Sharon, has a heart condition, and Ward is said to be angling to live closer to her.

Sorry about his mother. If he gets the waiver and can play this year, it sure would help us!

He's at Auburn, yes. We still need the NCAA waiver or he will have to sit out a year and we seriously need this guy THIS season.

I wonder how long these waiver requests normally take before they are either approved or denied?
