Paul McCartney Bans Meat

Carnivorous Over McCartney

(06/14/04) -- If you've ever worked backstage at a concert or on a film set or any other place where crews work like dogs for ten to fifteen hours a day, you'll probably realize that a majority of these folks aren't vegetarians. And if a crew member happens to be a veggie, he or she would probably pass out after the first nine hours of work. Just kidding. Either way, crew members on the set of Paul McCartney's concert are upset because he banned the eating of meat by anyone working on the tour. "It's completely crazy," one worker in Oslo, Norway (where McCartney is performing tonight) told the local rag. "We're supposed to work from eight till eight each day, and aren't served anything but salad and vegetarian food. I can't live without meat doing this kind of work, and will defy the band and bring my own lunch packet with meat." According to other sources, the crew is also prohibited from wearing leather belts or shoes. "We can't control what they do in their spare time," a spokesman for the concert organizers said. "But as long as they're inside the stadium area, it's correct that they are banned from eating meat." Hmmmm. Maybe the carnivores can eat the vegetarians after they pass out from exhaustion.

It's amazing that people that are wealthy enough to hire chefs talented enough to make vegetarian meals that taste good, are the ones who get so devout about this crap.
