Hunter Morris Named SEC Player Of The Week

For the second time this season, Auburn junior

infielder Hunter Morris has been named the Southeastern Conference

Player of the Week. This week’s accolades come on the heels of

Morris’ game-winning and series-clinching hit against Kentucky in

Auburn’s final at bat in the third game of its SEC series this

weekend.

Morris helped lead Auburn to a win over Troy in the midweek and two

wins over Kentucky over the weekend as Auburn remains in position to

secure a SEC Tournament bid. In four games this past week he was

8-for-13 (.615) with two singles, two doubles, two triples, two home

runs, seven runs scored and nine RBI for a 1.538 slugging percentage. He

also drew three walks and was hit by two pitches while only striking out

once for a .684 on base percentage.

Morris now leads the SEC in slugging percentage (.779) and total bases

(134), is second in hits (71), RBI (53) and home runs (13) and is third

in doubles (14) and triples (five) while his .413 batting average is

fourth. His season home run, runs scored (43) and RBI totals are already

career highs.

Morris was previously named the SEC Player of the Week on March 22

following his spectacular outing against Georgia.

He is the first Auburn baseball player to be named the SEC Player of

the Week twice in the same season since Gabe Gross and Mailon Kent each

did it in 2001, with both of Kent’s awards also coming following SEC

weekends.

Auburn returns to the field on Tuesday night against Samford at 6:30pm
