Spotlight on Therezie and Whitehead

The Jermaine Whitehead pick-six was perhaps the game-changing play against Arkansas. After Auburn initially built a 21-7 lead, the Razorbacks rallied to tie the game by halftime. Nick Marshall's TD run gave Auburn the lead back but the follow up pic-6 gave Auburn a 14-point lead late in the third quarter. The play was set up by Robenson Therezie's blitz and hit on the quarterback.

The combination of Justin Garrett and Robenson Therezie produced 6 tackles, 2 QB hurries, 1 TFL, 1 forced-fumble and 1 pass breakup. If they can remain healthy, the star position will continue making impact plays on defense.

The play...

On this play Arkansas faces a 2nd & 7 from their own 18-yard line. Ellis Johnson dials up a blitz with Kris Frost coming off the edge and Therezie targeting the "B" gap. Despite being held at the line, Robenson Therezie breaks through, hitting the quarterback just as he is attempting to make a deep throw. The impact results in the ball fluttering high into the air to a waiting Jermaine Whitehead.

Whitehead returns the interception for a 33-yard touchdown. Montravius Adams leads the path to the endzone, taking out the Arkansas quarterback, who would have been in position to make a tackle on Whitehead. These are the types of plays the defense must continue to make, especially if they are surrendering too much yardage. Forcing turnovers was something the 2013 defense struggled with and an area the coaching staff placed plenty of emphasis on during spring and fall camps.

Was awesome hustle on Robinsons part, and great communication between Whitehead and Ford. Also Monty was clearing the way like an all SEC pulling guard. Exactly what we needed at exactly the right time.

FYI, there is no "I" in Robenson.
