The NCAA Tournament was canceled as the coronavirus (COVID-19) spread across the country, but that hasn't stopped fans from simulating games, devising brackets and developing polls to decide the best team in the country.

Joey Loose, who frequents the college basketball section on Reddit created a 68-team bracket utilizing the final projections from ESPN's Joe Lunardi. Loose is the man behind the "imperialism" maps for college basketball. You remember them, right? Remember when Auburn and San Diego State were the two remaining unbeaten teams in the country, and they each owned half of the country on the map?

Well, Alabama remembers. The Tide handed Auburn its first loss after the Tigers started 15-0 this season. Well, it just so happens Loose's NCAA Tournament simulation on Twitter ended with Auburn facing San Diego State in the national championship.

And, well, Alabama tried to spoil Auburn's good fortunes again. This time, the Tide, who were set to miss the NCAA Tournament before the postseason was cancelled due to the pandemic, attempted to derail the Tigers by campaigning for the Aztecs on Twitter.

Well, Alabama's best virtual efforts came up short. Auburn beat San Diego State for the national championship on Twitter, which was decided by fans' votes. A total of 18,290 fans voted in the poll and 52 percent of them selected the Tigers as the national champion.

Auburn finished the regular season 25-6 overall and was unable to play a game in the SEC Tournament before college basketball events were cancelled across the nation during the second week of March.
