I asked. No one I know locally actually reads SI nor considers them to be even remotely important to sports anymore. The only thing they do look at is the swimsuit issue tho.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit names first MALE model to reach final of its annual Swim Search

Move over, ladies! Sports Illustrated Swimsuit names first MALE model to reach final of its annual Swim Search - a 21-year-old from Minnesota who will compete with 14 women in the hopes of landing a shoot in the magazine

  • The magazine revealed the 15 finalists in its 2021 Swim Search this week, and Lewis Freese, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the first male ever to make the cut
  • Lewis, who applied for the first time in 2019, admitted he has 'no clue where my gender really falls at the moment'
  • He also called it 'ironic' that he's in a swimsuit competition 'when swimsuits have been the downfall of my confidence in the past'
  • However, he praised SI Swim for 'representing a form of inclusivity that stretches far beyond a "trend"'

'I really don't view myself as the first but as the next,' he said. 'The next model to break a barrier, the next model to have these uncomfortable conversations...'

Amazing! The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue has revealed the finalists in its 2021 Swim Search — and for the first time ever, a male model has made the cut

Wow, not a reply on a guy in the Swimsuit Issue? I expected at least “I think he’s cute” from several on here...

I'm confused.

1) Is Freeze a born male that identifies as a female?

2) Is Freeze a female who has undergone gender reassignment and identifies as a male?

3) Is Freeze a female who has undergone gender reassignment but has reverted and identifies as a female?

4) Is Freeze just a normal guy?

Note: The SI Swimsuit edition doesn't specify gender, sex or identity.

Apparently a biological male but gender changes from moment to moment....I would rule out #4.

Thank you for taking the time to read the 100 or so words attached on the post...

I think we can safely rule out option #4.

It was a joke.

In truth I hardly find the SI Swimsuit issue culturally relevant at all these days and it's days are already numbered with the rise of the internet and the like. A good looking model or 30 is always only one Instagram click away and all that. I'll be surprised if it survives another decade.

Me either, I havent read anything from SI in a decade I bet. If I did, I was unaware of it. I do know some of the maintenance people in our plant keep the calendar etc posted on their workstations and tool boxes. I guess that way they cant get in trouble if their soft porn comes from a "sports mag."
