AUSportTalk 4
AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn will try to carry the momentum it built in Tuesday night’s 17-4 thrashing of Lipscomb over to the weekend as it heads to No. 5 Florida State for the first two games of a four-game series that starts on Thursday. Thursday and Friday’s games will be played in Tallahassee and then the teams will return to Auburn for the final two games of the series on Saturday and Sunday. So. RHP Ty Kelley will make his Auburn debut in Thursday’s opener and Auburn will use the same three pitchers it used in last weekend’s series with Elon for the final three games, starting with So. LHP Grant Dayton (0-0, 1.29 ERA) on Friday. Florida State will counter with So. RHP Geoff Parker (1-0, 5.40) and Fr. LHP Sean Gilmartin (1-0, 1.50 ERA) for the two games in Tallahassee. “We are looking forward to the challenge of playing a team the caliber of Florida State this early in the season,†Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski said. “It will be a great environment down there and we will have to play well. For the young guys that have not had an opportunity to play in the SEC yet, this will be that type of environment.†Auburn is 2-2 on the season, winning its season opener against Elon before dropping the final two games of the opening-weekend series while Florida State is a perfect 4-0 after outscoring Hofstra, 43-16, in a four-game series to open the season. Auburn comes in with a SEC-best 10 home runs after just four games. The 10 homers are the most by an Auburn squad this early in the season dating back to 1979 while So. OF Trent Mummey’s 10 runs scored is also the most by an Auburn player this early in a season. Thursday’s 6pm ET game in Tallahassee will air live on Fox Sports Florida in north and central Florida only while none of the other three games will be televised. All four games will air live on radio with the Thursday, Friday and Sunday games airing on WKKR-FM 97.7 and the Saturday game airing on WMXA-FM 96.7.
