It's an out and can ruin a potential scoring situation, as it did to Auburn last night. College players shouldn't leave early. They have enough experience to judge that.

Ole Miss is remodeling their stadium and the only fans allowed in are 400 seats behind center field. Maybe that had something to do with the lack of "bounce" in the dugouts? Not only didn't we get the timely hit, some of our (Dean's) coaching decisions while running the bases drove me crazy. Also, a player leaving base early ruined another excellent opportunity to score. No excuse for that with a college level player. Good grief! I'll be so happy to see a coaching change!

How do you know what each sport gets at the various schools? If there's a list somewhere I'd like to look at it.

Up until recently we have been a good hitting team. Now that the pitching has gotten at least reasonable the hitting has disappeared. Injuries to Irish and Pierce have something to do with that but still....

1913/14 yes. These others just don't quite make it. We should have been in the '04 title game. What would have happened against USC is questionable. They ripped us pretty good in the '03 game in Auburn. 1983, we got jumped and that was bad but there's no denying that Miami got more votes. '93 we didn't play in a bowl game and who knows how that would have turned out.

Some posters here act like Nix was a flop at AU. In 2&1/2 seasons he set AU's all-time total offense record. A record that Stan White set as a four-year starter. Nix holds the AU record for consecutive passes without an interception. When he set that record, the mark he broke was his own. Yes, Nix holds the top TWO records in AU history for consecutive passes without an interception. Have many forgotten all of the key 1st downs and TD's he made running the ball? He was better at Oregon because of better coaching and a better supporting cast but he was very, very good at AU. As someone who watched several of his games at Oregon, I'm not at all surprised that Bo Nix went very high in the draft.

I firmly believe that any number of Wooden's teams would beat this year's U Conn, so we'll simply disagree.

Every year there are guys who don't get to another P5 program and wind up worse off than they were. West Georgia's NIL pool is not very deep.

The elite level athletes could always compete in modern times. To think that Walton, Abdul-jabbar, Wilkes and so forth wouldn't excel in today's game isn't clear thinking. During Coach Wooden's remarkable run he had all elite players.

I probably shouldn't post in this thread but here goes: I find the concept of a rational, benevolent, all-knowing, all-powerful being that loves us to be absurd. That concept simply doesn't reconcile with what humanity has had to endure through the millennia. So no, I don't believe in a Rapture.

I don't think that this year's U Conn team could beat Walton & Co., but that's impossible to prove.

I didn't even have a drink at or after that game. Yet, the whole carload was so delirious with joy that we took two wrong turns on the way back to Auburn and didn't realize it until we passed Vulcan for the second time.

Another example of how badly the open transfer portal sucks. I'm reaching the "Who gives a damn" stage. Just wait until the season starts and root for whoever is wearing orange and blue. Recruiting, depth charts and so forth are now meaningless.

We are having an unexpected tough season. In the few games where the pitching is adequate, the hitters don't come through. Puzzling.

I agree. I've been around and associated with baseball longer than I care to admit. Never have I heard that losing a series but salvaging the last game is any sort of championship.

If Holloway plays with the same attitude at bammer as he did at Auburn, he'll be lucky to get garbage time in the last two minutes of blowouts.

He was our #2 WR last year. What is he looking for? A school where he won't have any competition for the position? Maybe the U of West Georgia has an opening.
