  1. At no point did ever say fire Harsin after 1 season. You misunderstood. Further, I asked if putting Bo back into the game with a broken ankle was this staff's Sean White moment. It doesn't matter if they knew it was broken. They knew he was hurt. No matter how much you state that it was misinformed, they should be questioned for that decision. Edited to add: Auburn isn't going to hire a top tier coach regardless. So if Auburn is stupid enough to fire a first year head coach, it wouldn't change who they would go after. Just the timing.
  2. It is being reported by multiple outlets that Whipple is stepping away due to family health reason. Speculation is that it is due to his wife having cancer. Football scoop had him interviewing at Nebraska. I haven't did a deep dive to get to the bottom of it yet.
  3. https://247sports.com/college/miami/Article/Miami-Joe-Brady-reportedly-have-mutual-interest-in-Hurricanes-OC-vacancy-177649946/ If true it kind of defeats the argument that Brady isn't interested in CFB.
  4. That very well could have played a role in this with Riley so I see your point. I feel Cristobal was almost a go until someone leaked(from the Auburn side) it to put pressure on him. Again with undermining as whomever leaked it didn't want Cristobal or didn't want to pay the buyout. You have kind of added to my point about Cristobal. The fact that Auburn fans think that Cristobal would jump to Miami or Smart would've jumped to UGA only furthers my point. There are people thinking Harsin would've jumped to Washington. There are people thinking Harsin will jump to go to Oregon. Auburn shouldn't have to worry about losing a coach to UGA, Washington, Oregon, Miami, or Arkansas. Auburn power brokers are the reason it is a possibility. While fully supporting Harsin, one has to question the decision to put Bo back into the game with a broken ankle. Was that his Sean White moment? Supporting Harsin doesn't mean he is above reproach. I want better for Auburn. I want Harsin to lead to that better. If he can't lead to that better, pay him off and fire him. Then go get that person.
  5. Saban at the time was hardly a generational coach. He was a great recruiter that had won one championship and was about to be a NFL washout. He lost his greatest edge going to the NFL which is recruiting. Look at LSU and USCw. They swung for the fences and connected. It may work out and it may not but at least they are trying to do what it takes to win and I can see why they did it. Auburn can't hire Art Briles, Dan Mullen, Venables or anyone with a checkered past because God forbid that the media criticize Auburn for the hire. I don't even think Briles or Mullen would be a good hire but that isn't my point. Auburn swung for the fences with Bruce Pearl. Auburn hit a homerun with the hire. I can't fathom why Auburn refuses to do it in football. Putting egos before the welfare of the program. Undermining from the outset. Question: Would Brian Kelly leave Notre Dame for Auburn? Not a chance. Question: Would Lincoln Riley leave Oklahoma for Auburn? Not a chance. Question: Would Brent Vanables leave the DC position at Clemson for Auburn? Nope. Question: Would Gary Patterson have left TCU for Auburn? Nope x 2. Question: Would Mario Cristobal leave Oregon for Auburn? Nope. Whether you like or dislike any of the people involved in the questions is irrelevant. What is relevant are the answers. The answers are all the same and point to the problem. Failure by the power brokers of Auburn football to attract top level talented coaches. Either by incompetence or malice. Auburn has a reputation and the coaching world is small. People talk and while I don't know what is being said, it is undoubtedly negative toward the power brokers at Auburn. We all accept it or bury our heads in the sand and hope for the best. As for my answer. I don't have one. If you held my feet to the fire I'd say Luke Fickell. As for me. I'm going to support Bryan Harsin until he proves I shouldn't. I'm not thrilled with 6-6 and nobody should be. But he fits the criteria for the only thing I had to have this season. That is not being Malzahn.
  6. That is because bama does what it takes to win. Even being humble enough to get out of the way. I can't say that I get that feeling with Auburn. Auburn is what makes Auburn fail. Not bama or UGA.
  7. That is ironic considering Chizik's role in Jetgate.
  8. The reason is because you know what you are getting with the first 8-4 guy. A guy that rarely if ever beat UGA and LSU. A guy that owned Arkansas. A guy that went 2-5 in bowls and one of the wins was against a lower tiered program that had just lost it's coach to Virginia Tech. Malzahn had 7 years at Auburn and Auburn wasn't getting better. Support for the program was drying up. You want to make the AD, boosters, and the President move, let the money flow start to dry up. How many Auburn fans were wishing for basketball to start up? With Harsin, you really don't know what you're getting at this point. Ok so he may end the season at 6-7 or 7-6. I don't feel it is right to judge on 1 year. If in year 4 or 7 the recruiting or record isn't good, so be it. He wasn't up for the job. But we can hardly gauge that now. It has been too soon. The player's bad habits still manifest(fumbles, drops, whiff blocks, run right and throw it out of bounds). In the end he may arrive at being a 8-4 coach. He may end up losing consistently to UGA, LSU, and Bama. Ok, it is what it is. Get rid of him and start anew. The apathy from supporters of the program is palpable. I just don't see the commitment to building a consistent winner at Auburn. It is sad to me as I see the potential. If you have multiple 8-4 type coaches in a row, the problem may be outside of their control. I feel that you support the coaches as much as possible until they prove they can't do anything with it. At that point you make a move and fire them. So Auburn meanders through the years and has a good one once in 10-15 years. At what point do people stand back and question the people running the program? When do they tell people in power that you either can't pick good coaches or you're not supporting them enough? If you tell them this, you risk losing their money. That is the crux of the issue. There are no Pat Dye types walking through that door. The program needs an overhaul.
  9. Ok so if this is true, who is the leader in the clubhouse?
  10. It is better to be a wise ass than a dumb one. My comment was typed tongue in cheek. Text is hard to convey context.
  11. It's almost as if different people have different opinions.
  12. Absolutely this. Our special teams were special under him. Now not so much.
  13. It's not like we have a choice. I don't believe he should be losing support but even if he is, what choice do any of us have? The only choices we have is to either support or not support. He's getting more time regardless to any of our feelings on the matter.
  14. Auburn has always been better when the Dline comes from south Alabama with a few others here and and there. I do not know why.
  15. Just a little update here. He is averaging 9.3 pts/gm this season in 8 less mins/game. At AU he averaged 11.7 pts/gm in 27.6 mins/gm. So far at Tenn he is averaging 9.3 pts/gm in 19.5 min/gm. The season is early yet. So his stats could improve.
  16. BTW, I wish Lashlee nothing but the best of luck at SMU. I also wish he not become Auburn's head coach.
  17. If Auburn finishes top 15, this will be my reaction:
  18. And he deserved it. WR play was terrible. I do not agree with the War Rapport guys that he was scapegoated. Kiesau has done a good job with the WR room. There is a drop here and there but they are greatly reduced. The first game Kiesau coached was rough but after that, the WRs showed improvement. Shed has been somewhat productive even in SEC play. The WRs aren't having issues lining up and costing timeouts and penalties. I'd say that they are one of two groups that have improved over the season. Now if only Kiesau can recruit.
  19. You see that is the thing. It is common in people to complain about the status quo. Always wanting different with no patience for what is. This is greatly exaggerated in football unless the coach is winning. It is why the backup QB is often the most popular person on the team. Auburn's fanbase is no different in this regard. But look at bama. They have no problem with the douche that runs their program. They do not care how rude, condescending, or the outright butthole behavior he displays consistently. The only reason for overlooking it is his winning and rightly so. A couple of bad seasons and they will turn on him. Harsin is experiencing this due to the unexpected loses. I will say that the Auburn fanbase has been beaten down over Gus' tenure and as a result have lower expectations. At this point Auburn fans for the most part only expect wins over TAMU, LSU, bama, uga, Florida occasionally. When it comes to MSU, Ole Miss, Vandy, USCe, and Kentucky, those wins are expected almost every time. Where Harsin ran afoul is that he lost to two of the later. Auburn fans were chalking those up as wins. It was expected to lose to TAMU, bama, and uga. There was a toss up with Penn State. OK so if Auburn loses those four games, no big deal. But he lost to MSU and USCe. Those aren't going to be accepted kindly. The almost loss to Georgia State won't be accepted. For my part, I made it through the Gus tenure but did give up after the contract extortion and crappy SEC title game performance. Gus sucked the joy out of it for me. I no longer grilled on Saturdays or planned my weekends around the game so I could watch. I might listen on the radio but if I had to go into a store, I had no issue not listening. With great joy I welcomed anyone but Gus. Harsin fit that bill. I will give him time to succeed. If he doesn't, it really isn't a big deal. It's not like Harsin took over a dynasty. In four years if we are at our current level or worse he will be gone. Because the money won't be flowing in like it should which threatens the bell cow for Auburn. Maybe then the powers whomever they may be will get their crap together because they do more damage to Auburn than any one coach can.
  20. To think that some Auburn fans wanted Mullen to coach Auburn. I was neutral on that topic but I am really glad that Auburn didn't make that mistake.
