Just another reason college football shouldn’t be called an amateur sport anymore. It’s all about the money, or possibility of it, for athletes now. Let’s just quit calling it college anymore and come up with a more appropriate name, because an education is secondary to the majority of these football players. And Auburn University better get with the program quick, or they’re gonna get run over by even more “ Universties” than bammer and thuga in the SEC, because “ it just means more”. If you think I’m old school, you’d be correct. But if you’re old enough, think back 15-20 years ago and tell me college football wasn’t better,both as a fan and for the school. If you’re old enough to remember 30-40 years ago,like me, you’d remember kids played for their school, not to improve their draft stock. Like TexasTiger said, life is full of risks, AND commitments. Now go ahead, blast away at me!

Mikey, I like your input on this site but have hard time understanding your justification for Gus’s mediocrity. Gus’s 2nd most talented team (2014) finished 8-5, losing 4 of their last 5, with the only win being against Samford. Harsin may not be the man, but we’re you this critical of Gus when we blew a 20 point lead to LSU IN 2017, or lost 30-24 AT HOME, to a 5-7 Tennessee team. Just picking a couple of colossal losses by Gus during his tenure

If this is the case, why hasn’t DD entered the portal? Maybe he will now. Also, if this is the case, I would hope the coaching staff would communicate it to him so he can enter it. Kid was a winner in high school. Wish we could’ve seen at least a little bit of what he could/couldn’t do.

If they are smart enough in chemistry ( you know, kind of like good enough in football) they get just what the football player gets. A SCHOLARSHIP! Only the chemistry student doesn’t get FREE MEALS and FREE ROOM AND BOARD. And $400/ month spending money! I know, I have 2 kids there on academic scholarships now, and I’m damn fortunate mine are on scholarship or I’d be paying a boatload every semester. So these football players have/ had it pretty damn good if you ask me. Oh, and I’m still paying a boatload every semester in food and housing

All you guys who were so happy these kids were finally “ getting paid”. How do you like what bird said? NIL just makes the bamas of the world harder to compete against. We are gonna pine for the days when a free education( it’s called “college football” for a reason) was what a talented kid could expect from a university to have the privilege of showing his talents to the NFL. Then, if good enough, he could get paid( it’s called professional football for a reason)
