Surprised we haven’t seen all the winter training videos this year. Maybe I’ve just missed them? Hopefully Aday has nice weather this year and we can get a look at some of the new guys. Calling my shot: Hank Brown Aday MVP and the calls for him to be starter grow louder.

Whatever rule prohibits kids going straight to the NFL and requires them to attend college for at least 2 years will need to go away. This may ultimately help the XFL/USFL league because kids should also be allowed to join those leagues out of high school. I could also see the Top Tier of College athletics programs split off (Power 5) and have a new Division of Group of 5 and lower teams that compete for their own championship. Maybe have teams move in between the 2 divisions similar to soccer. It worked out last time when Auburn had to out bid another school for a top QB.

That was satisfying and therapeutic

With the brain child of DeBoer’s offense possibly leaving does that put Auburn back in play here or has that ship sailed?

Times have changed. Bruce proved it could be done. The expectations for the program have changed. The day Bruce hangs it up there will be tremendous pressure to bring in someone that will keep Auburn at the top of the SEC. I don’t think this attitude existed prior to Bruce. Auburn used to hope to hire someone that would get Auburn to a winning season and maybe a tourney bid. The expectation now is minimum tourney with championship aspirations.

Based solely on recruiting Bama will continue to give Auburn fits. This is a “down” year for them and they’ll probably finish top 5 in the SEC if not higher.

I admittedly know zero about basketball but I have to believe a large part of Auburn’s problems have to do with recruiting. Auburn has assembled good recruiting classes but since 2020 it appears Auburn brings in one guy that is a one and done, 2 guys are busts and transfer out, and one guy that stays but is a bench player for the majority of his career. Getting guys to the NBA is great but Auburn can’t miss on the other 75% and rely on transfers to keep the team afloat.

There is no reason Auburn shouldn’t be able to get whoever they want post Pearl. Bama has been able to make decent to good hires their past couple coaches and I have a hard to believing they have anything to offer that is better than Auburn. The SEC has become a premier basketball league which it wasn’t 10-20 years ago. Top coaches will run to Auburn with the success the program has demonstrated the past several years.

Kiffin must have decided to stay in the nfl. Durkin isn’t a bad hire.

Is Durkin still floating around? Auburn waiting for Chris Kiffin to make his mind up? When does spring practice start?

Time for the bounce back

Based on what Cohen said the other day I think the north endzone will look close to those depictions. I’m not sure with the trends in CFB of Auburn needs to add more seats but I think they are definitely looking to add more big $$$ seats. Now that Auburn is selling booze I stand by making the top of the North endzone a party deck.

Good move for Trovon. If this guy from LSU can get Auburn to their level it’ll be worth it. We like beating our chest for how well the 2025 class is going but look at LSUs. Pretty ridiculous

So I admittedly no zero about basketball but I just curiously looked at on3 over the past couple seasons. Auburn has not recruited at the level I was expecting to see. The best class they’ve had in the past 5 years lost the 2 best players. Bruce has done well with transfers but I gotta believe it’s still better to have a solid foundation of guys you recruited out of high school? Is Nike that big of a deal now that NIL exists? Wouldn’t guys rather play for a championship contender that’s putting guys in the NBA?

I looked at Durkin’s wiki and he has an impressive pedigree coaching under Urban and Harbaugh. Harbaugh must really like him because he hired him at Stanford and Michigan. His defense at Texas A&M got lit up a couple times this season with way more talent than Auburn has. As far as the Maryland situation. Pat Dye had a kid die in 83 or 84 after a hard practice. Not trying to excuse it but when you’re trying to push kids things can happen. Who knows if Pat Dye’s job would have survived if he coached 30 years later.

Grad students confirmed. Good for them getting their degree.
