  1. We’re giving up an unusually high amount of 2 out runs and 2 strike hits. And giving up a lot of high velocity hits and home runs. It’s one thing for that to be happening to one or two pitchers. It’s another for it to be happening to almost every pitcher. At some point you have to question Teaford. Either he’s doing a bad job calling pitches or he’s tipping his pitches. Either way, I’ve seen enough of him already.
  2. College athletes have been paid for decades. The only thing happening now is how is it going to be regulated and by whom.
  3. Yes. But you forgot the part of how many of those coaches up and bolted for more money and greener pastures for their own benefit and eagerly left the kid they had commitments to and relationships with behind. The players now have the same option the coach has.
  4. Me neither. I’m ready to see Butch make some mound visits. He needs to shorten the leash on some guys. And it’s bothersome to see transfers from Miami-Ohio, UAB, and Jax St outperform guys who have been at AU for several seasons. It’s just frustrating to be an AU sports fan these past few years.
  5. Correct. The ever progressive state legislature of Alabama has decided to not allow the evils of a Lottery thus forgoing the scholarships players in other states receive.
  6. The loss of Hudson hurt some. But our pitchers have little in the way of swing and miss stuff. Our guys who throw 95-96 are getting squared up on because everything is flat. The mental approach is off too, in my opinion. Stuff like walking bottom of order guys on non competitive pitches and flipping the lineup will crush you in this league. Most bothersome to me is we cannot count on the upperclassmen pitchers at all. Also of note (and very similar to football) our rivals are bigger, thicker, and stronger at almost every position. UT and TAMU players look MLB size. On a more positive note, Ike Irish and Cooper McMurray are having monster seasons. Irish is one of the best all round baseball players I have seen at AU. Maners and Weiss are also having excellent seasons. And Tilly has performed very well on the mound for a freshman.
  7. Came out of this weekend last in the SEC. Hard to swallow. Pitching staff is dreadful most of the time and that’s especially disappointing when so many of them are juniors and seniors. Hard to compete when you can’t count on starting pitchers giving you more than 2-4 innings.
  8. Huge win last night. Came out flat today. Will have to empty the tank tomorrow and try to rebound to take the series. UT has an interesting roster. They are all huge and hit nothing soft. They mash or K. And the UT pitcher is averaging 12 pitches per inning through 5. Not throwing great, just a lot of non-competitive at bats today.
  9. They certainly are coming for it. The government sponsored ads encouraging (begging) seniors to delay until they are older is a big, flashing clue. My ‘Next Up’ prediction: some elaborate tax and grab scheme for 401Ks. The politicians lust for our money is insatiable.
  10. Spot on. Especially #2.
  11. Can we not afford the things being discussed, or could we afford them with better spending choices?
  12. Bingo! To so many, the biggest obstacles to fixing America is Dylan Mulvaney and the Penn Swimmer. 😅
  13. I’m ready for a pitching rotation of McBride, Myers, and Tilly(I love the way he attacks the zone and has some swing and miss stuff). We have to find a rotation where we can count on 5 or 6 innings from a starter vs 3 or 4. Makes all the difference in the world. The bats are mostly there. Standfield is hitting again and Peirce is gong to break through. This team can still make a run.
  14. I agree with your approach and support of Butch. I’m a big fan of his also. But I also feel @PUB78 point too. Yes, we’ve been to Omaha twice. Nothing to sneeze at. But for the 2000s we’re last in the SEC W in NCAA tournament appearances. It’s similar to football. Yes we’re going to bowls and occasionally upsetting Bama or LSU. But overall still middle to bottom of the SEC. I think AU fans are getting worn down on the ‘brutal schedule’ defense and ready to be the dreaded opponent for the other team. It doesn’t help that our BB team finally rose to contender status only to see Bama recently move ahead of us in that sport too. Just my two cents. Back to baseball, I feel like this team can turn things around. The bats are there and I believe the arms are there but we have to get the right rotation. From your perspective, who should be our top starting pitchers going forward?
  15. This has turned into a weekend that doesn’t help the record but may help this team grow.
  16. Keep battling at the plate. Myers looking strong in the mound again. Tied 8-8 now.
  17. I like that we’re still battling at the plate. This team is not terrible by any means but will have to earn every thing every inning. That said, TAMU is for real. Big strong and fast. Mashers at the plate and deep with pitching. Better than ARKY in my opinion.
  18. Getting runners thrown out at home is becoming a recurring theme with this team. Another inning killer. Gabe needs to fix that.
  19. This is a disheartening season so far. Pitchers are afraid to throw strikes. More frustrating is that some of our most effective pitchers are first year JUCO guys. Our upperclassmen program guys are hurting us. I like Butch a lot but at some point he’s going to have to show some fire from the dugout. Doesn’t seem like there’s any sense of urgency.
  20. I remain optimistic that one day our foes will see us as the brutal opponent in the schedule.
  21. I’m afraid this is going to be a very very long season. We need a significant upgrade in arm talent. Butch will have to be real creative this season to fix this team’s deficiencies. It wont be easier next year when OU and UT come into the SEC.
  22. There were a couple of other things that bothered a lot tonight. Gabe got two guys thrown out at home vs Arky last week. Tonight, he has Javon at second base and Ike up with a 3-1 count. Tries to steal third and gets Javon thrown out. Inning over. Then 6th inning, Maners up with bases loaded no outs, Gabe tries to bunt him twice and he ends up striking out. Neither move smart in my opinion. On a positive note, both Standfield and Hernandez are starting to get going at the plate. Now we desperately need Peirce to get out of his slump.
  23. The Aggies get 3 runs on zero hits and no errors. You have to watch a lot of baseball to see an inning like that. Down 9-6 now.
  24. Went into the B6th tied 6-6. Gave up 3 walks and plunked two. Down 8-6 now. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
