  1. What outlet are you seeing the $30 seats?
  2. I went to the bowl game out there in ‘96. Got some free jambalaya from the fair across the street. Surrounded by the spirits and casinos, too, but I was 3 months shy of my 21st birthday (sigh).
  3. Action network.com opened Auburn as a 3 point favorite
  4. What about Alabama holding our guy in the end zone on the first play of that 98 yard drive? CBS showed the replay, clear as day!
  5. I went to the game today and sat in the upper deck, Section 113. Maybe it was just me, having missed going to a game last year, or maybe it was the chill of the weather (not trying to make excuses) but for a near sellout, the stadium seemed eerily quiet to me, even when we went up 28-3. The fact that Auburn could do hardly no wrong to that point and State couldn’t do anything at all compounded the strange feeling. I would be interested if anyone else in attendance had the same outlook. Also, being a Falcons fan, when we went up 28-3, the Super Bowl scenario immediately came to mind, and something inside told me this could happen again.
  6. For the Georgia game, Murray pulled a Pat Dye from his introductory press conference and referred to us as “The University of Auburn” 🙄
  7. I know this is just an example, but for geography’s sake, could you swap Tennessee and Ole Miss? Bammer doesn’t lose their annual game with UT, and we regain what used to be a great traditional rivalry to start the SEC season. Also, would their be a group of 5 or an ACC team on the schedule if the Alliance doesn’t want to schedule us? If not and you don’t make an SEC semifinal game, that’s only 9 games you play before a playoff or bowl game. Would the revenue generated from an extra conference game make up the difference lost from not playing a 12 game schedule?
  8. Ha! I guess they are both a little long winded, LOL!
  9. How about the “Bo didn’t get screwed over by a whistle from the stands like his dad did back in 1995” game?
  10. Not a bad win for a coach who is weak and has no backbone 😂.
  11. I was at the game, as well as the ‘97 game. I remember having a bit of a cold going to the game. Getting in the Louisiana heat and humidity and watching that beatdown was the perfect medicine. The fake FG by Duval happened so fast I didn’t realize how he got the ball until watching the highlights. I was with a girl I was dating at the time. I remember seeing how full their student section was 2 hours before kickoff, directly in front of us on the other side of the stadium, and watching the great Gerry Dinardo (ha!) get them pumped up before the game. By the third quarter, all you saw over there was tumble weed. After the game we drove to Biloxi and hit the casinos before heading back to Auburn.
  12. Maybe he felt empowered because he went back and read the Tony Robbins book.
  13. We lose a tough one in Knoxville tonight, 2-1 in double overtime. Arias scores our lone goal in the 69th minute. Tennessee ties it up with an incredible shot with 4 minutes left in regulation and wins it 11 seconds into the second overtime. Coach Hoppa said at halftime they seemed to panic in the first half. That was very clear in the second as well from about 10 minutes left in the game. For me, losing to Tennessee in anything is my equivalent to Alabama beating us in anything for many others. We still have a good thing going in soccer and are back home Sunday to play aTm. I think we are still on course to host a first round game in November.
  14. Not sure if a thread has been started about how all of Auburn’s Olympians (past, present, and future) are performing. Former AU tennis player Tim Puetz and his German doubles partner won their opening match against a pair from Argentina with relative ease 6-2, 6-1.
  15. Do you mean Organic Gardening 😀? I sailed that ship in the summer of ‘99. A legendary class on the Plains!
  16. Auburn has only beaten Alabama by MORE THAN 10 points once since 1969, 26-14 in 2017. If not for stopping the wide receiver short of the end zone on the final play that year, it would have been 0 times since ‘69.
  17. ^^^This. If Auburn wants to be competitive in volleyball, this is the mentality it has to have. Go after somebody who knows what success is in a top tier program. It could be the head coach, maybe not. Maybe it is a top assistant. We don’t need to bring in a coach who has had success in a mid major or less. I know this is volleyball, but this formula can translate into problems in other sports. See Auburn men’s basketball before Bruce got here, with Lebo and Barbee. How did that work out for us? Not to give a history lesson, but I was a student at Auburn in the mid 90s. I started going to volleyball matches in 1996. At the time, we were winning almost 20 matches a season, including an SEC WEST title in ‘96. As the 2000s rolled in, we had back to back 1, that’s right, 1 win seasons. We have never really recovered from that, with the exception of 2010, the first NCAA tournament experience and a win in the tournament. We have to bring in someone who can build a culture of winning. Coach Hoppa has been producing at the Soccer complex for the better part of 2 decades now. In the 90’s the team was playing at the Student Act Center. I packed the ACT, got the shirt, and was part of the largest crowd at the time, almost 800. The team now plays in a 9000+ seat arena that was sold out last night for gymnastics (how wonderful that was). I would like to see the same for a volleyball match on any given Friday night , especially on a football home weekend. We need to hire someone who will have that vision and recruit well and put a good product out on the floor to represent the greatest university in the world, and people will come. Greene needs to realize that although this sport does not generate much revenue, it does not to be treated as such. Hopefully the process of looking at candidates is thorough and not just looking through applications. This is Auburn University athletics, not the Honey Baked Ham, Co. at holiday time. I just want all athletic teams to be given an opportunity to be successful.
