I agree with you on this. Have posted it myself. We will compete for & possibly win the SEC at least in 2025. But asking AU Forum members to have patience is like asking a hungry lion not to eat a dead antelope.

Thank you Fifty for these articles all year & Happy New Year to you. Is anybody else on this forum tired of McGriff leaving for a few years & then coming back to AU and not staying very long? I don't know any other coaches that has done this to us. I wish he would decide to stay here for an extended period of time when offered, or just move on for good. Just a pet peeve of mine I guess. But does he annoy anybody else when he does this?

I agree with you. It felt great to see a QB throw accurate passes to WR & TE's all over the field. Something we have not seen all year. BUT, it was against reserves with absolutely no pressure on him. It's a bit different when the game is 0-0 and all the pressure is still on you and the 1st string defense from the other team is trying to kill you on every play. The best we can hope for is that Hank & WW coming in compete for the job next year & 1 or both of them can play as well as Hank did Saturday against our 1st string defense in practice & then carry it into the actual games next season, or that by some miracle we get a Portal QB that is already proven. I just wish all the gloom & doom posters would quit with the we're only gonna have Cam & Perry for 1 year before they transfer out. Ridiculous!!!

I would say this site is about 40% Debbie Downers. Just blowing up the Transfer Portal thread right now. Just go look; talking about losing Cam & Perry next year before we even have our full roster set. SMH at these people.

I have seen several improvements in our team since the App State loss. Our team seems to be Super Aggressive on D just smothering our opponents in their half court offense & inbounds plays. We have a great advantage in 2 areas specifically that I have seen over most teams in the country: Athleticism: At times it appears our guys are going 100 miles per hour & the other team is just standing still, watching us go by them. Depth is the 2nd advantage: Our guys have gotten use to going out there for just a few minutes at a time & playing balls to the wall all out, without having to worry about conserving their energy bc there is no one to take their place if they get too tired. The 1 concern I have is we leave teams wide open for 3 pointers. So far we have not played a team that has lit it up from 3, but we will eventually have to play teams like Bama that live & die by the 3 and need to have an alternative defensive plan to switch to when that does happen. I feel like if we keep up the pace we are playing at now, hit around 5-7 3 pointers per game, and shoot at least 70% or better from the free throw line, we will definitely compete with the big boys all year & into the Big Dance. If I were BP I would devote 1 whole practice to shooting nothing but Free Throws! Missed FT absolutely killing us!
