  1. I give him props for taking the high road. He wants another job. No school wants to hear a coach bad-mouth his previous employer.
  2. And another one: “I don’t think Lane cares enough about recruiting to want to have to fight the battle for the kid,” said a coach from South Mississippi. “He’d rather show up, be Ole Miss, and win it.” “I just don’t think that’s (recruiting) Lane’s shtick,” said the same coach. “Some people think he’s a great recruiter, and I really don’t. I don’t think he gives a s*** about it, to be 100 percent honest. That’s why it wouldn’t surprise me if he left this year.” https://atozsports.com/nashville/why-lane-kiffin-is-probably-leaving-ole-miss-after-this-season/
  3. This is what worries me about Kiffin. This paragraph was written back in July: "The Rebels' recruiting class of 2023 is among the smallest in the Power Five, with just five commits — two four-stars and three three-stars. It ranks No. 61 nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings, No. 13 out of 14 SEC teams and eighth-worst among all Power Five programs. Only Arizona State and Auburn have fewer players committed." https://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/college/ole-miss/2022/07/10/ole-miss-football-recruiting-rankings-summer-commits-trend-lane-kiffin/7810299001/ I know he is good at getting players from the portal, but I'm not sure that he likes recruiting.
  4. Nope, not before my time. And don't misunderstand me, I understand and appreciate the haloed position of Pat Dye. But Dye was NOT our first choice, at the time. We only offered him after Vince Dooley turned us down: https://www.upi.com/Archives/1980/12/03/Georgia-Coach-Turns-Down-Auburn/2218344667600/
  5. That is exactly what I'm saying. Yes, Deion might be a huge success, or he might be total failure. But that is the case with every person we might hire.
  6. You mean like every other hire we have ever made? When have we have ever hired somebody that was a home run, and we knew it from the day they agreed to come here?
  7. Let me preface this by saying that I really want Deion Sanders, as our next coach. I'm 100% in the Coach Prime corner. However, I will add this: It is going to take some time for Auburn to build back. For example, if I'm not mistaken, I believe our entire OL will be freshmen next year (unless we make a killing in the portal). If you ask yourself, "which coach can generate the most patience from the AU fanbase?", I have to say that might be Hugh Freeze. He is a proven winner at multiple schools and the fan base might be willing to give him time, with the belief that he will eventually turn things around. Whomever it is, needs to be able to recruit. We have got to start recruiting!
  8. Yes, especially if it allows us to start making needed changes!
  9. If there really are assurances that he will run his own athletic department, I think this is a good thing, hope it is really true and that the PTB allow this.
  10. Sorry, who are we talking about here?
  11. The most scary part of this is that if enough players leave, we will end up being so decimated that it will almost be like the NCAA gave us the death penalty. It has taken years for SMU to recover, and you can argue that they still haven't recovered. If the administration has any level of competence, they will get the new AD announced this week!
  12. Love this video. My opinions of Deion Sanders have changed so much, for the better, in the last three weeks!
  13. This prematurely opened thread can now be shut down, right?
  14. I thought there is no way that Auburn will send Bryan Harsin to the SEC coaches meeting without closure. Oh well, guess I was mistaken: https://auburnwire.usatoday.com/2022/02/10/auburn-football-bryan-harsin-sec-coaches-meeting-new-university-policy/
  15. Sorry, this thread turns my stomach. I'll wait until Auburn really dismisses Bryan Harsin before I start thinking about who I hope takes his place.
  16. Anybody know M'ba announcement time, tomorrow? He is in France, right, which is about 7 hours ahead of Central Time, so I suppose it could be in the middle of the night, tonight.
  17. 40m00s. The video link goes right to the start of the comment.
  18. Here is the full quote: "I was a little bit nervous. I really didn't think we had the alignment there that we have here." Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAD4KC8mzMo&t=40m00s
