  1. 37 here. Definitely outkicked my coverage!
  2. Definitely not the dumbest thing I've ever done. I've been married twice... 😆
  3. Well. I got on here to delete that. I just read it again and got it the second time. I wasted a helluva good argument on nothing. I'm leaving it up so I'll remember not to be so dumb...
  4. So, in other words, you're post is about firing HF and hiring a can't miss recruiter and portal expert that is also a better coach than most others? 😂 See how that works. Have you looked at our draft numbers compared to our main rivals? I don't know if HF is the man. I do know that our talent gap, especially in this era, is more than a one or two year recruiting cycle fix. Maybe let him coach two seasons before we decide to place him in the 'pay coaches not to coach: category? We can criticize all we want and I do. I also realize this HC was so shocked at the lack of talent on his team that he attempted something he's never done before anywhere. Hire someone on very short notice to coach his team while he worked his butt off to increase the talent level at AU. Also on very short notice. Most national pundits that don't depend on AU fans for clicks and bucks thought this was a 3-5 year job just for AU to level the field talent wise. I personally felt the same way. We are ahead of where I thought we would be talent wise. I'll reserve judgement on the coaching until mid season or so.
  5. Serious question. What makes you would think an entity that has the USA in Trillions of dollars worth of debt can solve this or any other monetary problem? I'm not trying to have an argument. I just haven't seen any proof in my almost 7 decades on earth that Congress could fix anything. No matter how much of our money they throw at a problem.
  6. Yep. You are young. If you'd have experienced the years before Dye.... You would be permanently soured. 😆
  7. Nope. Actually read what AU was acused of , and realize that Dye was not implicated in those charges, and then know where they came from ......it was for freaking food . Now we got generational wealth.
  8. The coach that made the best of athletes falling in their lap was Terry Bowden. Dye recruited them all. But for all his shortcomings ( pun intended ) Bowden was the best in game play caller we ever had . If he had been Pat's OC we would have been gold. I know. He would NEVER have been Coach Dye's OC.
  9. If I had been King of Auburn that day, Gus would have never coached football at AU again. And might have had to find a ride home from Athens.
  10. I'm not saying I agree with everything you said, but it brought back memories. I told my Dad back in the early 70's that something wasn't fair. He explained to me that a fair had carousels for the babies, cotton candy and roller coasters for the kids, and rigged games for the almost grown ups. And that was the only definition of 'fair' that mattered in the real world. And then he said something like 'when life knocks you down, dust yourself off and start over'. I digress. It just brought back great memories.
  11. The conversation within this thread topic between Golf, a few others, and me was about MLB uniforms. If AU can get better basketball players wearing Nike, then by all means let's get Nike. None of that or anything you said changes the fact that the MLB uniforms suck. The players hate them as much as our BB players hated Under Armour .
  12. Uhhh. This discussion is about MLB. Nobody said anything about dumping anyone or staying with a company. But you.
  13. It didn't 'seem' to backfire on them. The fans of MLB baseball are in full revolt over them. One team (St Louis?) is wearing last years unis at their home games. Saw the Yankees uniforms on Sports Center and it was even worse than I thought. Also the numbers on the new uniforms are tiny. Someone should lose their job over this.
  14. Anything we couldn't change unless we were King of the AU sports world.
  15. And keep everyone else happy and not bankrupt his NIL in the process? This new thing isn't just about the individual recruit. Those days are over. This is roster and payroll management. For the record , I don't know any AU basketball fan that doesn't want at least 2 SEC ready players at every position. I also don't know any team in the SEC that has that right now. The Clemson guy is probably as good as it gets, if he doesn't think he's worth more than we do.
  16. The difference between you and others is that you know that it doesn't make a difference. 😄 Some "others" think that AU fans that try and think positively, at least before the *"&$#'"& start of the first game , are the REASON that AU is not better. In.... pick a sport. As the guys in the movie say, "it just doesn't matter.….." And I would remind all those like me that are not giving every last dime to NIL , that the money men are paying big money to coaches that are not coaching. At least for AU. And it's easy to spend money that's not yours.
  17. It's always questionable to predict outcomes of games not played. I personally believe that the 03 team was not the 04 team for USC or AU. And I think AU would win so we might disagree. But we would have curb stomped Oklahoma as bad or worse than they did.
  18. Two thoughts on this. I totally agree with those that wish him well and I hope he balls out in the pros. I refuse to blame any kid for leaving the crap show our program was at that time. However, the scouts that the pros pay ' a lot of money to see through these situations ' are correct in their QB evaluations around 50% of the time. And the newest fad in the NFL is to sign a QB to the rookie minimum and play them for 2-3 years. If the team doesn't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about the QB after that, they trade them or cut them before they can make real money the 4th year. Unlike colleges who pay top dollar for QBs that may or may not be worth it. There are exceptions for every rule, but for every Mahomes I'll show you a Jamarcus Russell. It does very few college QBs a favor as they aren't being trained properly, IMO. Aaron Rogers is the latest example of a QB brought up the old way. As in not starting until he was ready.
  19. If A&M really wants him, you're not wrong. And there's really nothing AU or any coach could do about it, if money is all that matters.
  20. I try not to be negative about our program and college ball in general. But that's fair, Mikey. When I allow myself to think about it, I remember the crowds at NASCAR races a couple of decades (or less?) ago.
  21. I understand that. And he may not work out. The NFL spends millions of dollars to evaluate QBs in the draft. Their success rate hovers around 50%. So a first rate QB is a priority every cycle. HF actually had one ready to commit in the last few days. Then A&M upped the ante on the QB and gave a scholarship to his brother. We've had one quality QB since Stidham, and he was a lifelong AU fan and his Dad played here. Our current coaching staff seems to recognize the problems and try and recruit to solve them. FWIW, if a coach thinks there are only two QBs worth having and they commit elsewhere, it's really easy to tell your current QB that you won't recruit anyone this cycle to compete with him. 😁
