So what is your point? I read this stuff every year and you guys are obviously better coaches than what we have. Yes we can critique anybody for anything, but you say it with such certainty that I assume BP is an idiot. Every coach should go to the sweet sixteen and final four and win a championship and kill recruiting every year. You've identified the problem, but then accuse people that ask a simple question of bringing a straw man argument. What's the solution? Seems obvious, since you don't like the job that is currently being done. That's all I'm saying. If I had an answer, I'd give it to you. I'm not mad, don't hate anyone, especially AU fans. I just sincerely don't understand the argument.

100% That being said, wasn't it caught because of a foul at the other end? I seem to remember that, but I've watched a lot of ball recently. If I am right, he would have gotten away with it. At least for the first half.

How do you know this? Do you know who we offered that didn't commit? 50% of pro QBS never pan out. They spend millions on evaluating QBs in the NFL. Sometimes you miss. Sometimes the guys you want don't come to your school. One more time. Nobody wants our team to win more than me. If you fire every coach we have and hire someone that gives us multiple championships, or even one, I'm good with it. If you have an answer, you're wasting your life in your current job.

No sir. I'm 67. The understanding gap is between folks that played basketball and folks that didn't. Otherwise I agree with you totally. The Pistons of old weren't the Pistons without Lambeir. (Lambere?). Rodman played the part with the Bulls. CBM screwed up because it was obvious. But you HAVE to respond if you want to level the competition . And there are ways to do it. Cole knows this. Everyone that played competitive basketball knows this.

How the Hades are we gonna have Spears or anyone else as our guard in the Dance? He isn't on the team. Wasn't he a three star? Heck , half of you would have had a stroke if we hadn't gone after the guys we tried to get and signed him. Cole is the exception to my rant. He saw him personally. And has been consistent. But so you really think this was the only missed evaluation in college basketball history? For the record, I NOW would love to have Spears on our team. I bet the coaches wouldn't turn him down either. But this record is broken. He hasn't been with us ever. IFs haven't mattered for squat in my lifetime.

Legit answer. If we could hire a better coach , I'm all for it. I've been an AU fan for 67 years. I've been an AU basketball fan for 67 years. I also love basketball, though I'm a bit bored with the current state of the NBA. Who is the coach that we could hire to make us more relevant than we are now, cause I don't know one. Legit question, who do you want to hire that's better than what we have?

OK. Who's better and who do you want? If you list the top 10 jobs in college basketball, AU ain't one of em. This is what just kills me. None of you hate to lose more than me, and that's not half bad as the coach and players do. But I've been a member of this forum since it before it merged and became AU Family. I remember when there was two pages after a big game. That's one of us.

Exactly. 14 turnovers and missed free throws. And a team that has at least 2 players have career games. It's not complicated. And it still sucks.

How many times has AU basketball been to the round of 32? The sweet 16? The final 4? How many coaches have we had that we knew would be a threat in the league and get us in the dance? It sucks to lose. It sucks worse to be irrelevant.

Yep. And the non call that caused the retaliation wasn't called on the Yale guy. Still stupid. Most times the refs don't throw the player out of the biggest game in their live 2 minutes in unless there's a sucker punch involved.

Look. Cole and I have not been best friends on here, but when he just talks ball it's obvious he has played. For you to say this tells me that you didn't. That left handed white guy ( I'm not gonna attempt to spell it ) was unconscious. One of his "misses" was a block, by Cardwell. I went to the store and Andy on the AU network described an 18 footer he took with a guy in his face and said " he missed it! " . He was absolutely amazed that the ball didn't go in the hole , you could tell by his voice. There is no preparation for this. Especially if it his career game. Which. It. Was.

Mainly football fans that follow basketball when we're good. That's my experience with friends and family, anyway .

Mostly you are absolutely correct. I never played big time basketball but played any rec league that would have me after HS. I could shoot, and still can for a fat 67 year old with bad knees and glasses, and we didn't have a 3 point line. At 5'10" I looked for every edge I could get, and CBM got what he dished out and didn't handle it well. Yes, if you had a hot temper, I could probably get you to foul and take you out of your game. So we lost that guy. Fouls and officiating, you saw it and you know basketball., enough said. But a guy gets unconscious from the field and a couple of his teammates follow suit here and there and you a very uncomfortable game. Our guys try too hard (I prefer that to choke) and commit horrible turnovers and miss easy layups. If anything, maybe beating everyone by double digits didn't prepare the team well for close games, but a little luck never hurts when you're the underdog.
