  1. Look. Cole and I have not been best friends on here, but when he just talks ball it's obvious he has played. For you to say this tells me that you didn't. That left handed white guy ( I'm not gonna attempt to spell it ) was unconscious. One of his "misses" was a block, by Cardwell. I went to the store and Andy on the AU network described an 18 footer he took with a guy in his face and said " he missed it! " . He was absolutely amazed that the ball didn't go in the hole , you could tell by his voice. There is no preparation for this. Especially if it his career game. Which. It. Was.
  2. You are officially ignored. It's the Master's for goodness sake! My WIFE watches it for the freaking beauty, and I'm an awful golfer! Begone, Heathen!
  3. Mainly football fans that follow basketball when we're good. That's my experience with friends and family, anyway .
  4. Mostly you are absolutely correct. I never played big time basketball but played any rec league that would have me after HS. I could shoot, and still can for a fat 67 year old with bad knees and glasses, and we didn't have a 3 point line. At 5'10" I looked for every edge I could get, and CBM got what he dished out and didn't handle it well. Yes, if you had a hot temper, I could probably get you to foul and take you out of your game. So we lost that guy. Fouls and officiating, you saw it and you know basketball., enough said. But a guy gets unconscious from the field and a couple of his teammates follow suit here and there and you a very uncomfortable game. Our guys try too hard (I prefer that to choke) and commit horrible turnovers and miss easy layups. If anything, maybe beating everyone by double digits didn't prepare the team well for close games, but a little luck never hurts when you're the underdog.
  5. He got freaking mugged the whole dang game. I will never say this off this board but that was the most one sided BS officiated game I've seen since the Samford game yesterday. And I don't care if the foul numbers almost even out. The first 3-4 minutes of the first half and the first 3-5 minutes of the second are crucial. That's where we were totally screwed. However......we still win the game if we don't have... 14 turnovers, crappy foul shooting, CBM finding out what it feels like when someone does to him what he does to others, and the amazing inability of the team to finish at the rim. IF, and this is a big if, BP needs to do something different next year, I would forbid dunks every other practice next year. Just to see if that helps us to make layups.
  6. Well, we had one player kicked out, one playing with a hobbled ankle and 3 players had 3 fouls in what seemed like the first 3 minutes of the game. I'll put it this way, if we played 6-7 players like they did , we would have at least 3 scrubs in the game in the middle of the 2nd half, and 4-5 scrubs by the end of the game. So there's that.
  7. The white dude did what CBM does. The play before , the Yale guy hit him in the throat on the way down the court. It pisses him off (rightly so) and he paid him back in a very obvious way (not smart). There are ways to retaliate. That ain't it.
  8. It was turnovers more than anything. We had more turnovers in the second half than we've had in two games. And as for superior coaching, the same coach that coached the guys to not turn the ball over probably didn't coach them to commit turnovers in the tournament. Show some class. It sucks, but it is what it is.
  9. I didn't put money on anything in the tournament, but I have always thought the negatives in the first game equaled out when high seeds play low. The low seeds have been playing and are in a rhythm. They won a game to get there , so they are on a high. The high seed was balling and then sits and waits. Then the high seed travels near or far, but either away, this kinda equals out. Add to that, teams like Kentucky are very young, and have never been in this moment. I knew Kentucky was beat when they didn't get up after halftime. The good news is , AU is not young. We may lose or win, but they aren't gonna choke at the end. That's my prediction, anyway.
  10. They play great defense. When their shots fall, they are a really tough out. Like Miss State. When the shots do not fall, it's a low scoring blow out , and they aren't happy.
  11. I totally agreed with your take. We were so wrong...
  12. EXACTLY!!! I mean he's had 16 freaking months!!! He should have won 2 Conference championships and beaten uat 3 times by now!!! He better get his act together or he's gone after the Spring game!!!! o/t has anyone seen tiger one and jerry in the same room? asking for a friend.
  13. Think of this, Mikey. If you're right, then this would mean the Fed Government stays out of it , and the union part is tied up in court, players will get some money across the board and a scholarship. The money will have to be set by the conference, however they decide to do it . Then.......the bag men and the cheating starts all over again. The more things change......
  14. Improvement. Stacking the roster. The players you need to remain on the team do that, and we pick up players that can help. And if AU fires HF, even if everyone thinks he should be fired, have a BETTER coach ready to step in. The last sentence is the most important, if you are older than 15. Full disclosure, I was done with Gus, and was glad we got rid of him. Then Harsin. I was wrong. If you don't have better, leave it alone.
  15. And they (we) would love starting over when half the roster transfers because AU pays another coach not to coach? I really think we should try a little patience at this point.
  16. Unintended consequences caused by a lack of foresight.
  17. The Big East has three teams get in. As a 1 seed, 2 seed, and 3 seed. You're telling me that the other teams in that conference, that had to play those three twice each, weren't better than Virginia or half the teams in the mountain west? The seeding of teams raises eyebrows, but the selection of some teams over others was just wrong.
  18. You mean "they" are wrong and you are right. Even if two of them are former college coaches and the others are sports media who've covered college basketball for decades. Most are in there 50s and 60s. Doesn't matter. You're gonna believe whatever and I am, too.
  19. I was hoping all the Mountain West teams would lose their first game just to spite the tournament committee members. Then I saw Colorado State was playing Virginia and decided they could win one. Hopefully by 40.
  20. Bruce's first couple of years were pretty rough. Look what we have now. I hope Freeze shuts some folks up in the next couple of years.
  21. But only one - two year contracts. Business works both ways. You no longer get a 4 year guarantee if you're any number of high profile 4 stars that fail to live up to your rankings and can skate to a free college degree. Those days should be over, too.
  22. Well. One more time. I heard two coaches today , one who had won multiple titles, say that panicking when 5 teams that weren't supposed to win conference titles and giving NO credit to the teams like UCONN ( and AU ) who DID win a championship was just stupid. Also that what the Committee did this year was NOT following history, but with AU , I don't know. Coach also said the seeding was awful for those reasons. And they weren't discussing AU but teams all over the country. But we're not really discussing anything. You're right and all those others are wrong. War Eagle anyway. If we win, it just looks better, I guess.
  23. One national basketball guru has already said we lose because our guard play isn't good enough to be at Yale. Hold you water, Sir.
  24. Exactly one of the points I failed to make, and it was the Russo show. I listen to them to get away from the SEC bias and hear what other parts of the country are saying. O/T but it's always funny to me that the biggest critics of AU sports are AU fans and Bammers, while people with a national view are highly complimentary of BP and even HF at this point.
  25. Forgive me. I'm older and was tired when I posted and didn't make myself clear. The AU mention on the program was an aside. The point I was attempting to make was that all these people with no O-B glasses were totally confused with the way he jumped from the #Net number when it suited him and seemed to abandon them when it didn't. Then it was all about the quad wins and losses, until neither made sense, and then he mentioned body of work, which sounded remarkably like "eye test" to some of us. I thought #net rankings were about the body of work. Historically, you are 100% correct when it comes to AU. But they were discussing the process this year, and how the things that mattered in the past, especially with seeding and the Big East teams, seemed to be ignored this year. Whatever, no team looks unbeatable, and many teams look like they can beat any other one given day. Can't wait for tip off to see what happens.
