  1. I really like Caddy, as a RB coach and recruiter. He did better last night than I was willing to give him credit for in the first half. I was wrong. He did a good job. The team started slow, but caught fire and played with purpose. Credit to Caddy. Our main problems last night were two things: - Caddy going for it on 4th-and-one from our own 26 down 10-0 on the road in the SEC. That was a terrible decision that gave 7 easy points to Moo State. Terrible decision. Probably the main reason we lost the game. - Robby Ashford missing pass after pass, as Stan White pointed out on Auburn radio. Not only did Ashford miss many of the open receivers he targeted, but he failed to see 4-5 wide open pass plays down field that would have resulted in huge plays for us. Stan White was incredulous that he failed to see those wide open opportunities for big plays. The opportunities were there, but it appeared Ashford was locked into certain receivers and missed those opportunities. Obviously, Ashford is not a potential top SEC QB.
  2. Yes, but I can't watch any of it. I'm having to stay at my other house for a few days, which I'm trying to sell, and have dropped Dish service there.
  3. #4 is a great point. I'm hesitant on Sanders just because he has no coaching experience, even as a coordinator, at this level. That's my only hesitation about him. Eliminate the misbehaviors of Hugh Freeze and he would be my #1 choice. Proven SEC head coach, proven recruiter, proven offensive genius and QB developer, and he hung 55 points on Saban two years in a row back when Alabama had a good defense. And he would love this job and stay here for the long haul. And let's please not pretend we haven't given another cheater a chance to redeem himself: see Bruce Pearl. And that was a great hire for us.
  4. If we're trading TJ Finley for Hugh Freeze, that's a win-win for us.
  5. I hope so. It takes seven 16-hour days per week to be an effective SEC coach. It doesn't take near that much time to be Prime Time. Not sure if Deion knows what a commitment the SEC is. I'm souring on Deion.
  6. Lane Kiffin is made for the drama of coming to AU and taking on his old boss in the Iron Bowl. He would do well here for a long time. Deion Sanders would be a 5-star hire in many ways, and he has what it takes to do well at a P5 school. He's a star in the making. We couldn't go wrong with either, but no matter which is hired, many AU fans will be crushed. I slightly prefer Kiffin by 51%-49%, but I think Sanders will be hired. And our recruiting will explode.
  7. That was overblown by someone who reads labels on shampoo bottles. I don't see the problem there.
  8. Can y'all imagine the NEXT Deion-Saban Aflac commercial if Prime is hired at AU? I can't wait to see it. Deion will Kick Saban's ass if given enough time...
  9. Can there really be "too many" Deion threads...when we have had Gus and Harsin for the past 100 years? Asking for a friend.
  10. OK, fine. I'm just wondering. I agree, we are in for a good Deion hire, and a good rise to the top of college football. Auburn. Go Auburn with Deion. And some good, experienced coordinators.
  11. I think: - Deion "Don't make me tackle anybody" - Lane Brain Kiffin - Hugh "what's your number baby"? Would all be great coaches. Deion is "primed" to be the best recruiter in the history of college football. Kiffin is about to hit his ceiling at Ole Miss. Hugh is too interested in coeds. It's Deion, Deion, Deion. But can he be tough and hire a tough staff that can recruit? I think "yes".
  12. Start practicing. Because I think he will be hired, but that's just my opinion. I'll go ahead and practice cooking crow otherwise.
  13. I can be patient with him. If he can establish a coaching staff that has SEC coaching and recruiting experience.
  14. This thread has had 3 good replies in less than 2 minutes, on an otherwise slow day. I wish my fishing trips produced similar results.
  15. So, if Deion Sanders is hired... 1. Great recruiting boost!!! He's the hottest college coach besides Nick Saban, and it might not take him long to surpass Nick in that regard... 2. He has no major college coaching experience, so can he develop the 4-5* recruits he brings? Not sure. 3. Can he be really TOUGH on the players, to bring them to their full potential, like Nick Saban and Kirby Smart can? They can be very hard on a player and still go home and eat a good (if late) dinner with their family and think nothing of challenging a player to their very core of being a man two hours earlier. Can Deion? 4. Deion, as much as I love him, needs an OC and DC who has extended SEC coaching experience. Who would those coordinators be? My picks: OC - Kendall Briles, DC: Will Muschamp. Looking forward to your replies...
  16. Agree 100%. Except FIRST, I want to hold a candlelight vigil, then puke up my guts for a couple hours. Just to get a clean start. Harsin was a HUGE mistake hire by an AD that will bear the burden of that horrible hire for the rest of his career. As well he should, one Mr. Allen Greene. He shackled us with Harsin for 2 years and another huge buyout.
  17. Oh you idiots, it's a 2-coach race: Kiffin or Prime. No mother of a coach will even be considered if one of these two says "yes". Personally, I like Kiffin's coaching prowess over Deion's, but Deion is a better recruiter.
  18. I'm glad for this development, but I wish Harsin no ill will. I imagine he did the best he could. He was plainly and simply over matched and out of his league in the SEC from day one. I can't blame him for wanting the job. Auburn is a good job. Most of the blame should be placed on the person who hired him.
  19. Good coach, great man. RIP Coach Dooley. All Dawgs go to heaven, so I'm sure he's coaching right now. Better than ever.
  20. This thread is almost as stupid as the thread that was started by a moderator a couple years ago about Gus being willing to take a less-than-market-value buyout. Cut to the car chase: he didn't.
  21. Yeah, 1980s NBA. It was much better than today's NBA. Today's NBA player would go through 100 crying towels every game playing through "hand checks" that put them on their ass, hard. LeBoneHeadJames would not have made it 10 years in the league back then. Bird, Magic, and Jordan were much tougher than he ever was. I don't watch the NBA anymore. It has become a pansy league. The PBA.
  22. Wow, he looks like a young Kurt Rambis.
  23. Yeah, but that ice cream cone might melt before the AU PTB gives the new coach a chance. Sprinkles or not. That's my concern.
  24. The only current QB worth a scholarship for next season is Holden Geriner. TJ Finley might be a good tight end transition, but he's too slow. Robby Ashford might be a good wingback transition, but he's too fragile. Whoever the new coach is next year, expect him to make sure Geriner is the only current QB on the roster. He will "entice" Finley and Ashford to transfer, if they can. And I hope they can/do, because both of them are pathetic excuses for SEC QBs. Zack Calzada might be worth keeping as a backup, but he's not willing to accept a blanket backup role.
  25. I'm puzzled as to why Tank Bigsby is such a revered player. He's certainly a good athlete and running back. And he is playing behind a suspect offensive line. But he is not an elite running back, IMHO. As a student at AU 1981-1985, I watched Bo Jackson PUNISH defensive linemen and linebackers who dared to try and tackle him. Bo PUNISHED them. Whether they were blocked or not. So much so that by the beginning of the 4th quarter, no one wanted to tackle Bo anymore. Tank Bigsby is not in that class of running back. He can sure rack up yards when he has large holes to run through, but so could many SEC running backs. Personally, I favor Jarquez Hunter over Tank Bigsby.
