  1. I'm hating this ending. Knecht went cold. Edey is unstoppable.
  2. Doubling Edey does nothing except leave TN with no one to get the rebound if he misses. They have abandoned the double team. Good move.
  3. Do y'all think Knecht's skills will translate well to the NBA?
  4. Edey plays offense well with his back to the basket, and also when facing the basket. He plays good defense. He draws fouls. He shoots free throws well. He reminds me of a young Tim Duncan when he played at Wake Forest.
  5. Let's go UT. Had them down by 11 and went cold. Edey makes low post play look easy, with his size and strength advantage. Wonder how Broome would do against him.
  6. Happy Easter! What a great day.
  7. Bitcoin is currently valued at $70K per coin. That's a fact. It is a success, and can be part of a sensible investment plan. It has rebounded very well from the damage caused by SBF. I have several friends who invest in Bitcoin, but they are wise investors and never invest more than they can afford to lose, and have done very well with Bitcoin. The only danger is investing more than you can afford to lose, and that can be very dangerous. And when people do that, they have no one to blame except themselves. As crooked as SBF was, he didn't twist anyone's arm and force them to violate that hard and fast rule. This will be my final post on this subject, as our back-and-forth seems to be heading from a discussion toward an argument.
  8. Looks like Bama is going to the Final 4. And has matched/surpassed us in accomplishments the past few years. Their guard play is phenomenal compared to ours.
  9. I believe that Bitcoin is now worth $70K per coin. I believe that blockchain technology is very secure. Bitcoin successfully defined how secure blockchain technology should work. Its value plummeted after the FTX collapse, like all other cryptocurrencies, but has rebounded very well. From a computer science standpoint, blockchain technology is immensely interesting. I took a Udemy course on it so I could make sense of it. It was worth the time. I was skeptical at first but became convinced. I believe that any institution that wants centralized control of money would naturally feel threatened by a transition to cryptocurrency transactions, which can be strictly anonymous, thereby preventing traceability, and (more importantly) taxes from being assessed.
  10. Still laughing? Bitcoin is going thru the roof. Each coin is now valued at $70K. Still volatile, but many people are making money, and some are getting rich. I think it's great that people have found a way to get around government regulation. Cryptocurrency is a great way to keep the US government from stealing our money thru stupid taxes passed without our approval. But the hard and fast rule for crypto is this: never invest more than you can afford to lose. Yet people do it, then cry and call the police when they lose big. Ala FTX customers who invested millions that they could not afford to lose. When done wisely, crypto investing can pay off, with no trusted third party required. And I'm glad the US government is mad about it, because it surely is not a "trusted" third party.
  11. Watching UConn last night was an eye-opener. I don't think we could have handled their big guy. At best, we could have been competitive with him at times. And their guards looked really good too. Not sure how deep they are.
  12. And DeBoer seems like he could be a similar hire, unfortunately...
  13. Like some have said, we can both love Bruce and be frustrated with him at the same time. I love the 4 SEC championships we've won since he arrived, plus the Final 4. But our NCAA triumphs in that time period are less than Alabama's, now that they have made their 3rd Sweet 16 in the past five years, and the Elite 8 this year. And I think they will handle Clemson and make the Final 4. And if they get on a hot streak from there... And BTW, Nate Oats is 6-3 against Bruce. Bruce shouldn't be telling any AU fan to kiss anything, and Steven shouldn't be telling AU fans to quit listening unless they act like Steven wants them to. All fan bases have fans that act like idiots, and social media is a microscope that makes it seem much worse than it is. Many of us were disappointed and upset, and had a right to be, but just a relative few posted hate on social media.
  14. Bama in the Elite 8. Wow, what a turnaround in state basketball since two weeks ago.
  15. If Bama could rebound with NC, they'd be ahead.
  16. Yes. Given the current direction and money madness, I could see college sports teams becoming much like minor league baseball teams, with affiliations purchased by universities for a specific time period, renegotiated regularly, with lots of potential volatility over time. For example, the team affiliated with Arkansas could choose, at contract's end, to become affiliated with Maryland instead, if offered more money or other incentive. This year they wear Arkansas uniforms, next year they wear Maryland uniforms... Of course, this is a long way away, if it ever happens. But with the current direction, I could see it happening. The sad thing is that for 90% of the players, a college scholarship would be, by far, the better long-term deal for them, if they would just take advantage of it.
  17. I finally figured out who CBM reminds me of, with the 2-way nature of his play and his long arms: Tayshaun Prince (played 4 years for KY then in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons). Notably, Prince is the only player in NBA history to have scored more points in the playoffs than in the regular season, within a single year.
  18. I think (and am afraid) that at some point, college football players won't be required to attend college. Instead, each college will have an "affiliated team", which is made up of players being paid but not required to attend the affiliated college (or any college).
  19. I have no problem with Oats doing what he did, even if he addressed the Yale team and sang their fight song with them. I subscribe to the Rex Ryan philosophy on things like that. If we didn't want something like that to happen, we should have won the game.
  20. I based the "didn't get vulgar" comment off of something I heard Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley say on TNT a while back when they were doing a story on Bird. But I'm sure you're right, as Bird could get very heated and lose his temper. And he certainly was arrogant. However, I don't think he sunk to the level of trying to hurt other players, like Bill Laimbeer did. I loved the 1980s era of the NBA. Hockey on hardwood at times.
  21. Trash talk is as trash talk does. Different players approach it differently, as did several of my favorite players: Larry Bird chose to trash talk for fun and was good at it because he could back it up, and because he never got vulgar. Dr. J didn't like to talk trash, but could do it well if you got in his face and started it. Tim Duncan refused to talk trash. I heard opposing players say they tried to trash talk him, but he would just stare blankly in their face as if to say "that doesn't work against me". Then he would beat them in the game of basketball, and shut them up that way. Nobody dared trash talk Charles Oakley, because he'd just beat you to a pulp and you knew the beating you'd take wasn't worth the benefit of having him thrown out of the game.
  22. The premise to my question was that no proven head coaches are available. Just a hypothetical question.
  23. How often is Auburn baseball on the SEC Network? Tonight, it is televising only one game (Illinois at Missouri).
  24. Another twist is this: What if Bruce leaves for another team in a couple years, and there are no proven head coaches available to replace him at AU? Would AU offer Steven the head job under those circumstances? And if so, would Steven even consider coaching at AU while his dad coaches elsewhere? Just wondering...
  25. Glad to see CBM take responsibility. I was afraid he was glossing it over. This gives me renewed hope for him coming back and being a leader next season. We need him, and he needs to stay in one place for more than a year.
