  1. Calzada has seen quite a downturn since he beat Alabama last year. I wish him well.
  2. Quinton Riggins was a hard hitter.
  3. I'm very glad he's getting this chance. He was the kind of player I wish I could have been. Congratulations DeShaun.
  4. Hugh Freeze was the best choice for our HC. Kiffin is a terrible recruiter and a Twitter instigator. Deion Sanders' CU press conference fiasco was proof he isn't ready for an SEC HC job. And maybe not for a CU HC job. We got the best HC available this cycle, and for most cycles. I'm very thankful for Freeze over Kiffin and Prime.
  5. I don't think Ashford will play a single down at QB for AU next year. He's a RB trying to play QB. He could be a fine QB at a lower level, but not in the SEC. We need to get our starting QB for next year thru the portal, which is what Freeze is trying to do.
  6. Agreed. If someone is committed to being AU's DC, why wouldn't it be announced, even if they are going to finish a contract with another team? The college regular season is over. Maybe the NFL doesn't allow that, I don't know.
  7. Any word on who will replace Stan?
  8. Glad to see him back. I wonder who the DC will be...
  9. If this HC had been any good, seems like he would have stayed put and proven himself as a HC, instead of wanting to take a chance at CU with Deion. I mean, who in their right mind resigns a HC job to become an OC? Answer: someone who has seen that their ceiling is an OC.
  10. You may be right. I would have welcomed Deion, but would have had some "prove me" takes, as I have with Freeze. Freeze has the former SEC HC coaching experience, which is about the only reason I preferred him over Deion. Hell, if Freeze doesn't work out, then we'll hopefully get Deion once he proves himself at CU. Or Caddy...
  11. No, you didn't say that I have a problem with him. Yes, we will see how this plays out. The outcome for AU and CU isn't certain. In the end, based upon the criteria of "SEC HC experience", John Cohen made a good hire. Deion now has the opportunity to prove Cohen wrong. There was no Nick Saban or Kirby Smart to be hired this cycle. But we did OK. I'm glad I'm expected to livelong enough to see how this all plays out. It'll be interesting.
  12. OK, thanks. You relieved me the effort of re-typing it.
  13. I listened. I think it's unfair to say I have a problem with Deion. I'm just a casul fan who knows nothing about the Xs and Os. But I have opinions, that tend to mean nothing. But IMHO, it was clear from his press conference that CU is the right step for him. Up one rung on the ladder from JS. His worthiness of the next step will be based upon how well he does at CU. I hasven't heard any complaints from him based upon this opportunity.
  14. Maybe no team is ready for a guy like him. IDK. He's the best ever to play his position in the NFL. Give him the credit he earned. He's done a great job as HC of a low-level school. Give him credit he earned. He still needs to earn that credit at a P5 school. I don't think people here are selling Deion as short as you think. IMHO.
  15. The truth is, Deion is not yet ready for a pressure cooker job in the SEC West. He will be one day, but not today. We are lucky to have Hugh Freeze instead of Deion. And CU is lucky to have Deion. And Deion should have not already named his son as the starting QB at CU. His press conference statements are the best evidence why he was not considered for the HC job at AU. He isn't ready yet. But I think he will be ready one day. When he has learned to coach at a higher level, and without the distraction of coaching his son.
  16. Just made a long, long, long post here. And then hit some key sequence that deleted it. And I can't retrieve it. Damn.
  17. Yes, that would be his path to the SEC - proving himself first at a higher level than a HBCU - then moving up. One ladder rung at a time. Like most every coach has had to do except Jeff Saturday.
  18. So it seems that Deion has already named his son as the starting QB at CU. Is his son a really good QB? I'm sure he is. In my experiences coaching travel baseball, dads do not see their own sons in the correct light when compared to other players. Myself included. Once year in 17U, I coached a team for a few tournaments that did not include my son, because he was injured and couldn't play. Surprisingly, I found it easier to coach the team. Other coaches expressed the same sentiment when it came to coaching teams without their son(s).
  19. Just on my casual opinion that he should take a step up from JS and learn more and grow as a HC before going to a cutthroat place like the SEC West. I think he would greatly benefit from going to a place like CU first.
  20. I really like Deion, and I think he will be an excellent head coach one day.
  21. Yes, I think we are fortunate that John Cohen passed on Deion.
  22. Is Freeze wanting to bring this guy to Auburn?
  23. I thought Heard was a done deal. Hope we get him.
