  1. Yeah, almost a 30 point lead. Maybe they will just let the clock run...
  2. Anybody heard if Chris Moore will play tonight?
  3. Jared Harper JT Thor Shariffe Cooper Carl Lawson Jeff Holland
  4. Welcome Jason. Best choice. But I sure will miss Stan.
  5. Sullivan to Beasley. Great memories from when I was 10 years old.
  6. Yeah, I'm (almost) certain we would have gotten a top-tier transfer QB if it weren't for his academic troubles. I can't remember the kid's name, but once we missed out on him, we continued to strike out with other transfer QBs. To their detriment. I think Freeze is the real deal, and is a great QB coach and developer. I feel sorry for any QB who turns us down. They will regret it one day when Freeze shows them what they could have been at AU.
  7. When Freeze came to AU, I thought he would get an accomplished transfer QB that would relegate Robby Ashford to 2nd string, and might even prompt him to transfer or change positions. Since that hasn't happened, I'm anxious to see what Freeze can do for Ashford's passing skills. Hopefully a lot.
  8. I've always been fooled by spring game performances. Some great performances never see the field much (or at much lesser success) once the fall comes around. There was a really good transfer QB that Freeze wanted, but the QB "returned to his school", reportedly due to academic transfer problems. Is there a possibility this QB could repair his academics and transfer to AU after the summer term?
  9. Yep. We have a decent team this year. We'll win more games than we lose, may keep the home winning steak alive, will win a couple games in the SEC Tourney, and one in the NCAA Tourney. It'll be a decent season.
  10. I hope that's it. I'll support TJ as long as he's on our team.
  11. I imagine that Freeze could have denied TJ's return to the team and given his scholarship to someone else, if he felt TJ quit on the team last year. On the other hand, I wonder if allowing TJ to return has anything to do with Freeze's failure to sign a good transfer QB.
  12. We're playing a sub-par team. Hope we get it together soon.
  13. Last season, Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe was the NCAA Player of the Year, and he outplayed Walker Kessler both times they faced off. Yet Tshiebwe came back to play for Kentucky this year (I assume the pro scouts recommended he do that), and Kessler went pro and is doing OK (I assume the pro scouts recommended he go pro). This seems like a conundrum. It sure seemed like Tshiebwe was better overall than Kessler, yet Kessler blocked shots at an other-worldy rate. Explanation? Did Kessler's shot-blocking skills make him a better pro prospect than Tshiebwe? Note: Tshiebwe seems to have regressed slightly from last year. Thanks
  14. We can't shoot well. No making up for that.
  15. Terrible shot selection by AU.
  16. We are lucky we got Freeze over Kiffin and Deion. Niether Kiffin nor Deion are mature enough as coaches to coach at AU. I'm sure Deion will mature along his climb up the ladder and one day be worthy of an offer to be a HC in the SEC. Kiffin does not deserve a HC job in the SEC. Offensive coordinator? Yes. HC? No.
  17. Yes, an NFL minor league. Like the NBA G-league. I can see a solution forward from that. Thanks.
  18. On any team I ever played on, a quitter, for whatever reason, was never again respected. Loyalty and commanded respect go out the window when any player chooses to quit on their team to skip a bowl game to "concentrate on the NFL draft". Bama doesn't have that problem, because of the quality athletes they recruit and attract. Hell, both Bryce Young and Will Anderson are playing their "meaningless" bowl game, yet they are arguably the best players in the NCAA at their respective positions. Football is a rough sport that is much like the military. Players go through hell together in spring practice, learning to depend upon one another. Trust one another. Fall camp is much of the same. Then the season is played out, and some players choose to quit on their teammates and sit out a bowl game. I hope none of those type of players ever come to AU.
  19. We have the same problems we had last year (hyper-aggressive, height-challenged guards who can't shoot well, but shoot too much anyway). Plus we have a big problem we didn't have last year: no Jabari or Kessler to bail us out. Gonna be a long year.
  20. I respect the Alabama players as well for this. Didn't Christian McCaffery start the cowardly act of "opting out of a bowl game" and abandoning teammates?
  21. To my liberal friends I say Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/ secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2011 but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes. To my conservative friends I say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
  22. Merry Christmas everyone, and Happy New Year.
