  1. It was not fun to watch. Coaches and players need to do better. Bama has taken the lead in basketball as well as football.
  2. Just one week before Bama had a narrow win against GA, they almost (and should have) lost to an Auburn team (without a single 5-star on the team) that finished with a 6-6 record. That should be factored in to all the talk about how great Bama is and how they steadily improved over the year. They aren't invincible. But no team in college football has a bigger sense of entitlement than Bama. I'm rooting for: Washington Michigan FSU Texas
  3. No. Mariah, and the other freshman signees, were all highly-rated high school players. MARIAH PENTA Hometown: Chesapeake City, Maryland High School: Bohemia Manor High School Club: Newton Rock Position: Utility (Middle Infielder/Outfielder) Bat/Throw: Right/Right Highlights: Ranked the 15th overall recruit of the 2023 class by Extra Inning Softball … an all-county and all-conference selection at Bohemia Manor … held a .500 batting average with four home runs … earned county player of the week honors … competed with Newton Rock club organization … knocked four doubles and 10 doubles for a .500 on-base plus slugging percentage … adding a .436 batting average … helped Newton Rock finish as runner up at the 2020 Triple Crown Nationals … member of the Junior National Honors Society … a three-time honor roll member … also earned the Student-Athlete Education Award … outside of softball, competed in gymnastics, volleyball, soccer and swim … a second generation student-athlete … her mother, Susan, was a standout softball student-athlete at the University of Delaware … is the younger sister of current Auburn softball student-athlete, Maddie Penta. Dean on Penta: "She is a very athletic player, who has the ability to play multiple positions. Mariah has shown tremendous growth in her hitting, especially in developing consistent power."
  4. That's what I meant when I said I wish he was doing it at Auburn...wish Auburn had the oline, receivers, play callers, etc., to make Bo's success possible. Would have been cool to have another Auburn legend and another Heisman statue in front of JHS.
  5. Bo has been terrific this year. He definitely helped his Heisman chances tonight. I think he'll win it...rooting for him. Sad that he isn't doing it at Auburn!
  6. On paper we have a more skilled and talented team than nmsu. On the field, however...
  7. We paid them $1.85 million to come to our house and beat the crap out of us. A stunningly incompetent performance by Auburn. Why would any elite player sign up for this?
  8. Heartbreaking to see people who have seemingly 'made it' make really dumb choices that can upend their lives. This is at least Marshall's 3rd encounter with the law. He had everything to lose and nothing to gain by whatever he was up to in Columbus. Reminiscent of Greg Robinson's mind-bogglingly stupid decisions in recent years.
  9. I hope your surgery was successful and I wish you a speedy recovery.
  10. @BritishAuburnFan Welcome, Paul! Your journey to Auburn is one for the ages and we love that you love Auburn as much as we do. What are your plans for your trip to Auburn? Unfortunately, I won't be at the game but I hope you have connected with Auburn fans who will show you around and ensure you have a wonderful experience. WAR EAGLE!
  11. This is not Dee Ford. We have ANOTHER British Auburn fan - Paul Mortimer from Westhoughton. Read the OP. It's a great story!!!
  12. No broad brushes. As I clearly stated, I'm talking about highly paid people who are fired for cause but get huge payouts. It is a small but highly visible group of people. And I would guess that most people think it's not right.
  13. IMHO, the notion of corporate execs, coaches, etc., getting HUGE payouts when they are fired for poor results, bad behavior, incompetence, etc. is beyond ridiculous and the practice should stop. The people at the top are already privileged to 'earn' huge salaries that should set them up for life. Meanwhile the other 99% can be unceremoniously booted from jobs due to factors outside of their control (outsourcing, corporate mergers, bad economy, corporate malfeasance, etc.) and many get little to nothing to tide them over. Life isn't fair to be sure, but inequities like this are controllable.
  14. Thank you for bringing this to our attention - love the opportunity to support members of our Auburn Family.
  15. He looks very good - who does the staff think we can get that is better?
  16. Smith had a really nice hit in one of the games I watched in Montgomery (can't remember whether it was against AUM or ASU now). So glad she has been able to successfully transition from being a slap hitter since officials have cracked down on batters being out of the batter's box. With her blazing speed she will be an asset on both offense and defense and am expecting her to be a starter next year. I also wondered about Tresvik. Dean mentioned her ability as a pitcher several times during the spring and I thought we might see her pitching some of these fall games but that didn't happen. P.S. @OlderWhiskey You probably already know this, but you can delete your emoji and then pick a different one. To delete, just click on the black circle with the white 'x' in it on the upper right of the emoji you selected.
  17. Not sure, but I believe Ole Miss has been called for far more penalties than AU has...
  18. If I were from a middle to higher income family (i.e., my family didn't need my financial help) and my goal was to have a great college experience and make it to the pros, I would go to one of the big dogs with a good chance to win a natty. The money will come later. If my family was in dire financial straits (e.g., JT Thor) I would take the money now via NIL.
  19. Of course UT would still be making the push. But I would argue that on-field play DOES matter...it makes recruits more likely to listen if the team they are committed to looks dazed and confused.
  20. The AU offense was significantly better the two weekends they played in Auburn vs the weekend they played in Montgomery. Wonder if ASU and AUM are that much better than the opponents AU faced in Auburn or if Auburn is just significantly more comfortable at home (or if I jinxed them in Montgomery). Thanks so much for the update @OlderWhiskey. Interesting (worrisome?) that the team was so dominant in the home games but struggled in the games in Montgomery. I don't know if Auburn Montgomery (AUM) and Alabama State (ASU) were just that much better than the teams they played in Auburn or if there was something else going on. Looking forward to spring.
  21. Games like AU vs GA help top recruits believe Auburn is just a few key players away from contending for championships. Unless they're really committed to the school, games like AU vs LSU, IMHO, make top recruits look for better opportunities to compete for championships. While NIL may be one consideration, I don't think it's the biggest consideration. Top players want to have a positive experience, win, and make it to the pros. Auburn doesn't have to win out this year to retain commitments, but they can't look clueless and defeated. Why would anybody sign up for that?
  22. Quarterbacks are generally instructed not to risk injury. Particularly relevant when the game is completely out of reach.
  23. Thanks for posting - It's hard to keep up with all the athletic events. After #2 Auburn defeated #9 UC Davis 14-4, and #7 Baylor 16-3, they just managed to eke out a win over #10 UT Martin 11-9. Glad they pulled out the win and hope they return to dominating performances in the future - this one was too close for comfort. Auburn Equestrian Escapes with Narrow 11-9 Win at UT Martin - Sports Illustrated Auburn Tigers News, Analysis and More Auburn will be defending a record of 32 consecutive home wins when they host Georgia next Friday, Oct 20, in Auburn.
