Newbomb 193
Do you believe that a spread system similar to Gus' system or Oregons would work in the NFL? Why or Why not... I would assume that you would not use alot of QB runs in it but beyond that....
Barney 10
No, I don't think it would work. I just think the players are too fast at that level.
AUAeroEngineer 0
I concur. The NFL is a whole different game.
guerra aguila 0
Spread "Formations" will work in the NFL... just not on every play.
AuStang16 0
A spread like Oregons? No probably wouldn't work to well, but the Patriots incorporate a lot of spread stuff into their playbook, it seems to work well for them.
AUDynasty 585
what do you call Colts' shotgun offense? They run a lot of spread offense with Peyton Manning reading the opposing D's and making audibles

Tiger Growlin 0
The Pats, Colts and Cards(under Warner) and the Bears(Martz system) all run a variation of the spread. They just do it with qbs who aren't that mobile. Every NFL team has some form of it but few run it as much as the Colts and Pats. It takes a heck of a qb at that level to pull it off. The spread and shotgun use a lot of similar formations and motion but it pretty well ends there.
Stripe 5
the spread is already in the NFL and being added more and mroe every year. just look at the Saints from last year, and as some have said Indy adn Payton. will it look like it does in college? Not any time soon but it's there and growing every year. the game is always evolving, Look back at the 80's it was all about running the ball and defense, Now it's changed quite abit since then, you want more balance now. Big throws down the field scat backs like Reggie bush sweeping around the end. or catching passes out on the flat. It's there just looks different. and will continue to evolve.
