rexbo 104
Expert Cited by CBS Says He Didn't Authenticate Papers The lead expert retained by CBS News to examine disputed memos from President Bush's former squadron commander in the National Guard said yesterday that he examined only the late officer's signature and made no attempt to authenticate the documents themselves. "There's no way that I, as a document expert, can authenticate them," Marcel Matley said in a telephone interview from San Francisco. The main reason, he said, is that they are "copies" that are "far removed" from the originals. Matley's comments came amid growing evidence challenging the authenticity of the documents aired Wednesday on CBS's "60 Minutes." The program was part of an investigation asserting that Bush benefited from political favoritism in getting out of commitments to the Texas Air National Guard. On last night's "CBS Evening News," anchor Dan Rather said again that the network "believes the documents are authentic."
CarolinaTiger 0
this is becoming a bizarre event. CBS is digging its hole so deep that it won't be able to 'fess up. eventually, we will tire of this story, and it will drift off into our distant memory and no real impact will have been made. yet, from this point forward, if CBS hadn't already lost its credibility with the majority of people (on all sides of the aisle), then surely it has after this. i do believe CShine's term applies to CBS: hack journalism
TrueBlue72 0
And the networks like CBS can't understand why people are ignoring them and looking to Fox for their news. I suppose they've been able to selectively report their biased drivel for so long that they believe it is their fundamental right to do so and it is our responsibility to listen and believe. Yes, CBS News is on the verge of becoming completely irrelevant. And Rather biased Dan is being found out for the buffoon that he has been for decades. Goodbye CBS News, Good riddance Dan.
