Auburn Softball Opens Season with 2 wins

The softball ladies opened their season on Saturday with 2 wins over Alabama State and Troy. 

In the opener, freshman Morgan Estell started things off with a solo home run in her 1st career at bat.  Kelsey Cartwright added 2 home runs and freshman Hilary Mavromat added a 3 run shot along with Amber Harrison's 2 run shot. 

In the 2nd game with Troy, junior pitcher Lauren Schmalz had a career high 11 K's in a 3 hit complete game effort.  An RBI double by senior Kyndall White and an RBI single by Elizabeth Eisterhold that scored Cartwright from 1st gave Schmalz enough offense to secure the victory.

On Sunday, the Tigers take on Jacksonville State at 11 and Samford at 1:30 at Liberty Park in Birmingham.
