Auburn women's golf team will open its 2012-13 season ranked seventh in the nation according to the preseason Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll, the magazine announced Wednesday. The poll can be found in the Sept. 3, 2012 edition of GolfWorld and online at www.GolfWorld.com.

The Tigers, receiving 452 points, are ranked second in the SEC behind the defending NCAA Champion No. 1 Alabama. In all, there are 10 SEC teams in the top 25, with Vanderbilt (No. 8), Florida (No. 9), LSU (No. 10), Georgia (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 13), Texas A&M (No. 15), South Carolina (No. 17) and Arkansas (No. 23) on the list.

Auburn enters the season after winning its ninth SEC Championship, the third in the last four years, and a 12th-place finish at NCAA Regionals. The team returns three of the five players from its SEC Championship roster under Kim Evans, who is entering her 19th season as head coach.

Among Auburn's returners are senior Carlie Yadloczky, junior Marta Sanz, an honorable mention All-American last season, and sophomore Victoria Trapani, an All-SEC and Freshman All-SEC selection last year. Auburn will also welcome three newcomers in Alex Harrell, Megan Wilshire and Jamie Yun.

The Tigers are set to open their 2012-13 season at the Cougar Classic, Sept. 9-11, at the Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, S.C., hosted by the College of Charleston.
