Pulling for bammer this weekend

I understand the reasoning, but I just can't do it. If they win, they win - but I can't pull for them.

Then you hate bama more than you love Auburn. I want whatever is best for Auburn and right now, unfortunately, it's bama beating MSU.

Don't hate them, just will not cheer for them, even if it "hurts" Auburn. Auburn needs to take care of itself and not need for Bama to "help" Auburn. A Bama win helps Bama, not Auburn.

Your reasoning skills need work.

Short-term (mathematically speaking), yes, but I'm speaking long-term. Auburn needs to help itself and not rely on Bama (or others). The short-term fix is part of the problem.

MSU winning doesn't help us long-term either. It's immaterial. Winning an SEC Championship and making a case for the playoff helps us short and long term.

I never said MSU winning helps Auburn. I want Auburn to win out and whatever happen, happens.

You admitted that MSU losing and us forcing a four-way tie helps us short term, but said you're thinking long-term. So how does MSU not losing twice and forcing a four way tie help us long term? I don't even think you can follow your own logic.

Dude, stop with the personal attacks! I want Auburn to take care of it own business, and whatever happens, happens. Long-term I want the defense fixed, so when we are in a position like last Saturday, we win - no contest.

This^^ . If we handle our own house we wouldn't have to worry about what goes on at someone else's. Go Moo-state!!

Thank you, someone understands!

Dont have to pull for Bama just pull for Miss St. to implode on themselves on Offense with turnovers. ;D/> :msu:/>

Can't do it, bammers are already cocky enough because we lost to aTm. They would be unbearable if they beat moo-state

Let me be clear...I HATE bAMA! However, if Auburn still has a chance at the SECg then I have to pull for whatever is best for Auburn. It helps that Im not a big fan of Mullen either so it wont kill me to pull against State. Truth is if Auburn doesnt get its own act together Saturday night in Athens none of it will matter.

I just wish we already knew the outcome of the Ole Miss v. Miss St. game. I'd hate to pull for bama just to have Miss St. end up winning the egg bowl.

I'll just try to look at this weekend as a win-win. Either our chances stay alive or bama loses.

This is how feel. I'd rather see the Updykes not make the playoffs

Pulling for Alabama is silly. We had our chance at the playoffs and it is over. Anyone who thinks this also assumes Ole Miss can beat MSU and that Auburn can beat both UGA and Alabama. What happens when Auburn loses to UGA? Or Ole Miss loses to MSU? Do you still cheer for Bama over MSU?

Bama over MSU means Bama gets their way into the playoff by beating Auburn. Is that what you want? We had our shot, it's over. The sooner Auburn fans accept that, the better. Auburn has to try to do whatever it can to find the ability to win in Athens and/or Tuscaloosa to still have a nice 10 win season and go to a nice bowl. The orange bowl is still possible, but the playoffs are gone. Yes, it is still theoretically possible, but in reality it is over. Reality poured down on Auburn with those two fumbles.

BTW, I can guarantee it now. Should Alabama beat MSU, I will bet $1,000 that there will be countless people on this board claiming, "the refs won't allow Bama to lose to Auburn. Too much money involved." So why would you want Bama to beat MSU?

Someone else understands bad logic? Congrats.

The "if we handled our business" stuff doesn't matter. We didn't. But despite that, we still have a chance to win an SEC title at the least, with a shot at the playoff if we win the SEC. But the only way that happens is if MSU loses twice. They aren't losing to Vandy so it's got to be bama and Ole Miss.

I want Auburn to have every chance to win titles. Apparently your rival losing means more to you than that. Weird, but ok.

It's not over and neither is the SEC Championship. And Ole Miss, at home, is fully capable of beating MSU. And Auburn is fully capable of beating UGA and bama.

If at any point the scenario eliminated Auburn from contention, then of course I go back to my normal mode of wanting bama to lose. I mean, duh. I only want them to win to give us a chance for a title.

No, it's not. It's not over until we lose or MSU beats Bama or Ole Miss.

Because, there is a not far-fetched scenario that allows us to play for a title, at the very least in the SEC and possibly more. It's not that hard to understand. You're more worried about the risks of bama success than the possibilities of Auburn success. I find that weird.

AU NEEDS Miss St to lose. So anybody rooting for Miss St is completely misguided and not rooting for the best interest of Auburn. Which, ironically is the same thing that inspires the people on this board that are so quick to call others "bammers" LOL

Yup.

Several folks in this thread keep hammering home the point that they place a higher premium on their own insecurities than they do on what's best for the coaches and players they say they cheer for.

It is hard to pull for someone who is making fun of you right now. The "bammers" are making fun of our new shirts "State of Auburn". Check out SDS.

The closet bammers are out in full force also. I have not seen this many bammer flags flying all year. I sincerely hope our Defense wakes up and plays

lights out the rest of this season. AU4EVR!

I hear ya. Just remember, though, you're not pulling for them. You're pulling for Auburn.

HA! Went up the Smoky Mountains a couple of weeks ago and did not get ONE "ROLL TIDE" yelled at me while decked out in my AU gear. That was quite a surprise as there were lots of Bammers there.

Now, you're using bad logic to make a personal assumption. Look, lets just agree to disagree.

Agreed, we handle our own business which was aTm we wouldn't be needing to be bama fans on Saturday. Seccg is out of reach, but playoffs were within reach if we had played some damn defense against aTm! Still have a bad taste in my mouth from that Embarrassing performance on d. Now had we won, it would have been a little more tolerant to root for that school. Right now? Hell no

No! Besides needing to win out, we need miss state to lose to 2 SEC west teams for us to get into an SEC title game we then need to win. Miss state beats Bama we have zero playoff chance. And fwiw, the things that have to happen for us to be final 4 are NOT preposterous. Starting with Miami beating FSU this weekend.

My logic is perfectly sound. You care more about bama losing than keeping our title hopes alive. That's the only explanation for wanting them to lose because an MSU win over bama ends not just our playoff hopes but any chance of winning the SEC.

Of course we should have handled A&M. But we didn't. But the SECCG is NOT out of reach. And as long as the SECCG is still a possibility, so are the playoffs. I don't know how many times this needs to be explained to you. And as long as that's the case, I will pull for whatever result keeps that chance alive.

No it is not, and once again your logic is flawed, making assumption about me.

I understand if a Bama win guaranteed an AU trip to the SECCG and/or the playoffs, but it does not. The real issue is we lost and how can we address that and move forward. The desire is not to need these astronomical, "if the stars alined", scenarios to play for the SECCG and be in the playoffs.
