All the comments about lack of talent preventing us from being an NCAA team this year and next year are only partially correct. A healthy Dunans and Shamsid-Deen would have probably allowed Canty to not have so much pressure on him and he might not have had the meltdown. With everybody healthy and Canty playing where he was supposed to have played we might have had enough talent to make NCAA we would have had enough to make NIT.

As for next year we will be much improved. Danjel Purifoy who many say was best practice player on Auburn Roster will be replacing Bowers. I like Bowers but Purifoy will be an upgrade. We will be adding a real PG Jared Harper and as we have seen in last few games Dunans is actually a really good big PG so PG will be improved. Spencer will be back as Center Power Forward and is showing some real improvement late in the season. By start of next season he will be better then end of this season. We lose Harris and that will hurt big time but we will be adding Anfernee Mclemore a small PF and Mustapha Herron who is a 5* SG/SF he will add instant firepower Bryce Brown, Lang and Williams will return. We lose Granger and he is a warrior he will be missed.

Next year we will have:

2 PG's Harper and Dunans and maybe Williams

SG/SF will have multiple options Herron, Lang, Dunans, Purifoy, Brown (SG) , Williams (SG or PG)

PF Spencer, Purifoy, McLemore, Lang (in a pinch)

C Spencer, Reed (maybe), Hopefully a Juco/GT that can be PF or C.

While we may be small at PF/Center we could put a team on the floor that is a mismatch for other teams. Dunans posting up other teams PG , Herron Purifoy Dunans Posting up other teams SG, Purifoy blowing past a PF. Teams go into a zone Brown, Lang, Herron and Purifoy are very good 3 pt shooters.

Ideally Reed will be able to play and give us a rebounding and defensive presence at Center next year that way we can rotate him and Spencer and that we can find a GT or JUCO combination PF/C to provide depth. Next year we will have the talent the question is how fast that talent can come together as a team and whether we can find 1 or 2 big men to go with Spencer be it Reed and or a Juco/GT big man.

Reed being available next year would help tremendously, especially with the other new guys coming. And you are right that TSD and Dunnans being out hurt a lot, was a killer actually. Different scenario if that doesn't happen.
