Wow! Do the SEC refs moonlight as Derby officials? I saw it and really have no idea what constitutes interference in a crowd of horses on a muddy track. Bottomfeeder 244
That's BS. Reminds me of the Auburn-Virginia NCAA tournament game.
augolf1716 21,202
This just sucks I'm a big horse racing fan should let them run like the old days let them bump. Officialls are getting out of hand in racing imo
AUBwins 10,075
I am surprised they overturned it myself. Horses bump all the time. I think since it was on the curve it went a lot worse than it usually would have been with the inertia of trying to turn and getting bumped than say if he changed lanes on a straightaway. Just unprecedented. Those stewards were in a tough spot. What a change in the money. Favorite to the longshot.

We try to go to the Evangeline Downs race track north of Lafayette, LA at least once a year. That have added a hotel attached to the casino/ race track. They have an all you can eat buffet in the observation booth over the finish line. This one is only $30 a seat, not $10,000 a seat like at the Derby. It's a fun time. They race every weekend from May to August.

It's hard to believe that a horse hasn't changed lanes affecting other horses before. I'm sure it has but the stewards let it go.

You can't block another horse's path on purpose like you can in car racing. When Maximum Security drifted over, he forced at least two other horses to check up in order to avoid a collision, which in turn killed their chances at hitting the board. Remember that only the top 5 finishers get paid out of the actual purse, so there are real implications to that. At the end of the day, the right call was made. Sucks for Maximum Security's team, but the horse freaked out a bit coming around the turn and it cost them.
mustache eagle 2,406
I don’t know horse racing but that looks like it should be a dq to me. This may sound silly but I’ve watched a decent amount of bike racing and the sprints at the end are somewhat similar. That’d be a dq in bike racing. At least imo i benefited ... it put money in my pocket for the second year running!
