Time to grow up and take that next step. Become your own city and leave the rest of Fulton County to mind it's own business.

Sandy Springs is voting on whether to become it's own city , or remain the financial sow which Fulton County drains resources from so its commission can continue to buy votes and remain in power.

Thought folks in the area were up to speed.

That is all.

Me thinks the people have voted..... Way to go, folks!

ATLANTA (AP) _ A proposal to turn the community of Sandy Springs in north Fulton County into Georgia's seventh-largest city got an overwhelming show of support. With all 33 precincts reporting, more than 93 percent voted yesterday in favor of a referendum to incorporate the community of about 86-thousand. The tally was more than 14-thousand voting in favor and only 971 voting against the proposal. Neighborhood activists have been pushing to get the issue on the ballot for 35 years. At issue is whether the north Fulton County suburb north of Atlanta wants to create its own city government. Currently, community services are under the authority of the Fulton County Commission. A ``yes'' vote means Sandy Springs will elect its own mayor and council, levy city taxes, control land-use laws and provide services such as law enforcement. If it incorporates, Sandy Springs would still pay county taxes to support the sheriff's department, court system and other central operations, but would no longer contribute to south Fulton County services.

:cheer:

I didn't have a dog in that fight, but good for Sandy Springs.
