StatTiger 3,188
There was a discussion on the ITAT board about the best one-two combination at runningback. Here are some of the suggestions. 1985 Jackson and Fullwood 2470yds-370-23tds / 6.67 avg 1979 Brooks and Cribbs 2328yds-363-24tds / 6.41 avg 2004 Williams and Brown 2078yds-392-20tds / 5.30 avg 1983 Jackson and James 1941yds-282-16tds / 6.88 avg 2000 Johnson and Evans: 1827yds-366-15tds / 4.99 avg 1983 Jackson and Agee 1819yds-273-16tds / 6.66 avg 2002 Brown and Williams 1753yds-316-23tds / 5.55 avg 2003 Williams and Brown 1753yds-336-22tds / 5.22 avg 1978 Cribbs and Brooks 1739yds-343-19tds / 5.07 avg 1993 Bostic and Davis 1682yds-286-15tds / 5.88 avg 1988 Danley and Joseph 1551yds-289-12tds / 5.37 avg
BustemBigBlue 178
How about the cumulative numbers of the years these backs played together? I'd be willing to bet Carnell and Ronnie accounted for more rushing touchdowns than any 2 Auburn backs that shared the same backfield. Although Bo was the greatest, I'd say Ronnie and Carnell are the best 1 2 punch in Auburn history. Also, how many of those yards and touchdowns in 1985 are Bo's? My favorite of those mentioned might be Danley and Joseph. I miss Bo Peep!
OKieAuburnDoug 1
WHat about Jackson, Fullwood, Agee??? Sorry but I would give them the all-time edge talentwise over RB and CW...Slaughter isn't a run/wr threat!
CCTAU 3,355
I think Bo should be excluded. There was no 1 - 2 punch. Just Bo, and then some other lucky fellow who got to mop up afterwards. Not that those guys were bad. Just that Bo by himself was that good.

Bo will always be the man to me personally, I am sure most of the auburn family would agree. Taking nothing away from CW or RB they were simply amazing. DKW 86 7,481
1983 Jackson and James1941yds-282-16tds / 6.88 avg Lionel Was my Physics Lab partner for a whole year. That will always be my favorite tandem, no offense to the others.
texaubie 0
Can you look at total yards in addition to rushing yards? I'd just be interested to see what that did to the stats since we threw the ball to Ronnie a lot last year.
kingfish 73
Can you imagine what Borges could have done with Bo and Fullwood in the same backfield and the additional nightmares defensive co-ordinators would have ... as if they weren't big enough all ready. Bo was fantastic. Fullwood was to me as exciting with the ball as anyone we've ever had. I liked the slashing style he had. We have indeed been fortunate with the running backs that have come through AU.
WarTim 3,457
When discussing AU backfields of the past, never forget to mention Teapot Brown!
