Carnell Williams is the right man at the right time

I keep falling back on the fact that when the guys we really want to hire (Sanders, Lane, Laning) pass on the job, Caddy is gonna be the best option left. Let’s see what happens Saturday, but I think that’s where we’re gonna be in the next couple of weeks.

That he’s recruited well or Junkins?  Tank, Damari, Cobb and hidden gems like Jarquez.  I can only speak on rumors that Carnell got overruled on Junkins by another coach that is no longer at Auburn.

Gotcha, thx

Is there a “better face to the program” than Carnell? It is becoming more apparent the previous administration  ignored many things with developing young men. I’ve read where Carnell is insisting kids go to class. Having the guts to do parent zoom calls about this is noteworthy. More involvement with Chaplin Chette develops the spiritual, be a good human being side of the players. I’m sure there are many more detail points I’m not aware of, but this points to an effective LEADER.

So for the short term Carnell is exactly what Auburn needs. Long term …. I don’t know…….  I do know an effective leader understands they cannot do everything. Go out and hire the right specialists and empower them to do their job. Can Carnell do this? Dunno….but I’m beginning to believe he could. Still a lot to be seen before decisions are made…..

I honestly feel like I am in the twilight zone.

There is nothing that happened in that game last week, nor nothing that has happened since that gives me any false sense of belief that he is cut out for this job, let alone the best man for it. This is the most crucial hire in the 21st century. This hire will either get us back to relevancy and contention, or set us back another half decade to the SEC pits of hell. I want better. WAY better. No offense to Lac.

Dear god.

There are how many sitting HC's in the FBS? How many sitting Coordinators at premier P5 schools?

The logic that if you miss on 3-4 "elite" names then you are therefore left with Cadillac as the "BEST OPTION LEFT" is absolutely asinine. I repeat: he has near zero coaching resume. Near zero coaching pedigree. Near zero X's and O's foundation. He's a good, but not elite recruiter (go compare him to about a dozen + guys in this conference). That's your best available option? For Auburn?

You have completely lost the plot and need to wake up. I can't believe the opinions and conclusions that some of you are coming to. All of this extra-curricular stuff that is being presented (the kids love him! look at his energy! he loves Auburn!) is bottom-level importance in predicting HC success in this conference, against the opponents that we expect to compete against. The players liking him and him running up and down the field manically while waving a towel isn't going to beat Bama, Georgia, LSU, or any of these teams.

Let's pretend you somehow miss on the 5+ names that people have propped up as being on the candidate list. Do you think that Cadillac is a better option than someone like Jeff Lebby who we could EASILY hire? Let me spell it out for you: Lebby is a better recruiter. He is a much better X's and O's coach. He has SEC experience. He is a very good QB developer (you can't win without a QB in today's game). He has more experience and a much better pedigree (came up under Art Briles, Josh Heupel, and Lane Kiffin).

That is just ONE guy. There are dozens of names you could make a similar case for. Also, Jeff Grimes would 100% be a better hire than Cadillac for about a million different reasons, and Jeff Grimes would never turn this job down. So I fail to see how you are EVER getting to the point wherein Cadillac is the "best option left".

I'm just going to enjoy watching Cadillac lead the team on the field tomorrow and take a day off from worrying about the next head coach.  There is nothing like watching an Auburn man lead Auburn men.

Honestly....Rhett Lashlee is a better option and it isn't even close.

I love me some Caddy, but this whole narrative of him possibly being the next HC reminds me why the AD, and no one posting here, gets the big money to make that decision.
