That was a really odd explanation by Freeze. I’m good in the red zone so maybe I should hire an OC that is not good in the red zone to help them. Do what???

To get to the red zone I would guess.

It sounded to me like he was talking about a specific person.  He said something like I can help him with Red Zone and he can help me with everything else.   For example, CLK’s offense was very good, but struggled in the Red Zone this year.   (obviously he wasn’t talking about LK, but his offense is one example)
But yeah, if taken in a general sense then it does sound weird.

I got it.  It is coach speak.  The OC in mind has trouble quickly scoring in the redzone and he has some tweaks to his play calling to help him out.  He probably doesn't think he is that efficient.

I think people may be reading into this too much.   Every coach has a weakness.

I took it as a random, off the cuff example saying:  if an OC can improve our offense,   and Freeze  can help improve any weaknesses that coach may have,  than they will make an effective coaching team.

If he was literal about it,  I do not think he will hire a coach that is ineffective in the red zone,  may be just not effective enough.

I saw where Freeze said he might hire an OC to free himself up to be more involved with recruiting.  Who would be someone he would turn to?  any names out there?

I’m pulling for Spurrier Jr. but I have posted that b4.

Maybe In his on-the-spott speaking, he isn't as fluid as he looks, tries to mentally converge 3 or 4 points in a sentence and gobblity-gook comes out. Happens to the best of them

I know nothing about him.     Can you give me a quick rundown on the important pros and cons of Jr.?

Pro: his daddy is Steve Spurrier, the ole ball coach

With everything he said, I took it as him being surprised by some of the people that have reached out to him, and that some of them are people that he considers to be possibly "better at it" than himself.  People wanted specifics, and he did not have any, as he had barely had time to give it real consideration.

This is what I took from it as well. All coaches, like all people in general, have strengths and weaknesses. He would choose an OC that complimented his strengths and weaknesses to put together a well balanced offense. Someone he could learn from as well as teach. It was actually refreshing to me... Our last two coaches did not seem to be willing to admit their weaknesses, and our team suffered the consequences.

There were several points he attempted in his presser that he gobbly-gooked. I get it. Adrenaline. Dream job. I would gobbly-gook stuff too standing at that podium. Still…he’s been doing this a long time and shouldn’t have butchered the OC explanation.

I did like his confidence and work ethic regarding recruiting. That was refreshing. At least he has recruited the SE before, unlike his predecessor. And this time, he can facilitate payments for the Treadwells and Nkemdiches and get away with it.

I agree with the OP....Freeze may be hiring an OC

I am ok with him hiring an OC. As long as team runs CHF Offensive scheme. I would think he needs to stick to what got him this far..so to speak!

I am genuinely excited that CHF seems really relish the recruiting aspect of his position.
