Looking thru power bills and tag registration is only so productive. This actually happened to me a while back. I sold an old truck to a church member. Six years later he sells it again. He never registered it. The truck was still in my name to the State of Alabama. The new owner found the title and bill of sale, under the seat. Called me up and I had to remake a BOS to the second guy. First guy would not answer phone and was now out of state in the USMC. If you had gone thru title searches, I could have been seen as living in AL when I could have moved. The truck was getting tags, he just never titled it in his name.
