I grant you that the Democratic Congress hasn't done what I had hoped for. Therefore, yes, I concede to the Gallup results of Congress Approval Rating at an all-time low. Can you do the same with the President's approval rating without putting a usual Republican "spin" on it?

Shug, I would say that the article and poll results you posted prove that President Bush is actually working hard to fullfill his campaign promise.

On the eve of the 2000 election, George W Bush clearly articulated why we should vote for him, and why he should be our president:

"Responsible leadership sets a tone of civility and bipartisanship that gets things done. I am a uniter, not a divider and, as the governor of Texas, that is how I have led. It is how I will lead in the White House."

Now some would think that 65% of country (as high as 71% in some polls), joined shoulder to shoulder, arms locked in solidarity disapproving of how the president is doing his job qualifies as uniting the country. While this may be close enough for some, it is not enough for this President. He understands that the remaining ~30% of his support is comprised of hard core loyalists that fully intend to stand with him through thick and thin. With only 18 months left in his presidency, he realizes he must act decisively if he is going to truly be a "uniter". He recently launched a three prong "shock and awe" attack on the Republican base: First standing by his discredited Attorney General Alberto Gonzales; Second, aggressively attacking Republican opponents of the immigration bill; Third, leaving loyalist Scooter Libby twisting slowly in the wind, knowing that Libby's only crime was to perjure himself to protect Dick Cheney and Karl Rove. Is it working? Can he really unite this country? Only time will tell. The next few polls will be critical. But there are indications in both the main stream media and the blogosphere that his efforts are bearing fruit.

You didn't like the Bush Social Security reform.

You didn't like the Bush nominees to the supreme court.

You didn't like the fact that Bush had the balls to declare war on international terrorists.

You did like the Bush Immigration Reform package which is obscene in what is proposed.

My problem is that I actually forgot that when Shug post one of his rants he is not wanting conversation or debate. He is wanting all to agree. Typical. AFMan, I learned long,long ago that this is a Republican board and anyone who disagrees with SOME of youare going to get verbally drawn and quartered. So it's very amusing to me that you would accuse me of wanting everyone to agree with ME.

If you doubt it, look at 99% of the posts you and Tigermike make. They are almost ALWAYS PRO REPUBLICAN AND PRO BUSH NO matter what the Repubs or Bush say and do. For the record, I just feel like some balance is needed and apparently some of the others do as well. Moreover, I lost any hope long ago that I would change anyone's mind on this board about anything. That is NOT my goal. My goal is expression of freedom of ideas, opinions and speech. I respect others opinions and want the same for myself. Lets respect each other and lighten up.......after all.....it's not long until kickoff and I'm sure we all agree on the Auburn Tigers. Geez, you guys should change this part of the site to "lets promote Republicans and the Republican Philosophy." Some of you forget that democrats have contributed greatly to this Country's history and led us though some tough times. Repubics didn't hang the moon nor did they invent a unique style of government..............Just trying to keep some kind of balance here where there appears to be none!

It amazes me that you come in slinging crap and then complain about our responses. I can promote the Republican philosophy because I agree with it. I do not agree with the version in practice in Washingon DC. In fact, part of the Republican problem is that they went as Republicans and acted like Democrats. You want to to promote the Democrat philosphy, but I spent most of my life fighting communisim which the Democrat philosphy is beginning to approach. I don't think you will mind if I choose not to vote for a Democrat.

I am pro Bush. I am a conservative republican. I do not always agree with Bush. But that does not mean that I turn on him like a pack of wild dogs. I could not stand Clintax, but I supported him. I did call him out when I disagreed with him. But again, no wild dog attacks. We as conservative republicans can support our president and still disagree with some of his decisions. We use our elected officials to make sure that things stay in hand.

You guys as dims, offer nothing. Your mantra is hate Bush. There is no other redeeming quality. The current house and senate prove to the public exactly what they thought. Do keep in mind that America did not vote dims in, they voted republican out. There is a huge difference. You guys are like sharks in a pool of blood. You are so giddy with the thought of bringing Bush down that you cannot do your job. We predicted this and it is coming to pass.
