SCBusPilot 72
He's already the nation's best tight end - just go ahead and give it to him already! AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn's Philip Lutzenkirchen is on the watch list for the award that honors college's football top tight end. Lutzenkirchen has been included on the watch list for the John Mackey Award that organization said today. Lutzenkirchen has more touchdown catches than any tight end in Auburn history. He was Auburn's third leading receiver last year with 24 catches for 238 yards and seven touchdowns. He has 44 catches and 14 touchdown receptions in his career. He missed spring practice following offseason shoulder surgery, but promises to be ready for fall practice.Mackey was regarded as one of the best tight ends of all time, and had a distinguished NFL career with the Baltimore Colts.http://www.al.com/sp...n_on_watch.html
aucanucktiger 1,805
As he should be. Lutz already has an impressive Auburn career highlight portfolio that seems to factor into these "one year, best-of" awards. IMO, Lutz (like Blake) is so key to our offense right now while the talent behind them grows up that the MVP factor that seems to also weigh into awards like this is heavily in Lutz' favor. (Man oh man do we not need those 2 to lose playing time w/ injuries).
